Hey all . My understanding is that with white door panels the carpet color on them should be grey but I tried ordering them today from Legendary and they say the only color they show on them is black and that they don't have ANY grey carpet . Suggestions anyone ?

Legendary wrong no! How could that be!? I ordered the door panels without carpet from them which are non returnable! They seem to think the parachment or off white is correct! Not the frost white! Which it should be! I would get a sample from them and make sure it is correct ! Otherwise you might end up with over $500 in wrong color junk door panels like me!

They made mine with gray carpet. Maybe try talking with someone else at Legendary. Gray is correct.

My door panel carpet inserts are gray also.
You are welcome to stop over and take a look at mine when you have the time.
As I'm sure you remember my car is the white on white hardtop John Egle wife trophies with at GSCA and BCA events.
My Pole Barn is dry and heated.

Hi ,we had no trouble ordering the white interior for our 65 but are inthe mdle other 37 week wait they said all that was needed was the upper sheet metal for the door panels. They just called for the metalnail strips on the edge of the door panels thought I could save my old panels but now have to take them further apar
t to get the nail strip off.Jim

Mine are also white ordered from Legendary with gray inserts. They also sent the gray kick panel carpet as ordered when I purchased the door panels. Might just be talking to the wrong person on their end.

Thanks again for your help guys . I just got off the phone with Rick from legendary and had him put my order on hold ! I'm having him send me a color sample of the white they use for our seats and door panels before i continue my order .
Then I told him the carpet on the door panels, floor and kick panels was charcoal grey and he said that they don,t have grey and would just leave the carpet OFF and I could have someone sew it on somewhere else . :argue: I told him that MANY of the guys I know that ordered these door panels from them got grey carpet so NOW he's checking into it .
AND he said its about a 8 month wait time to get them .
Jim , why did they need parts off your original door panels ? I thought these were all new parts, he never mentioned anything to me about sending in any of my old parts except for the stainless trim and the door emblem, in which I will be installing myself at this point .

As Jim said, my 65 GS convertible is the cover car on their Buick catalogue and has white interior with gray carpet on the door panels. Admittedly the door panels were done in 2012 but ……

They can put a different nail strip on them but who knows if the nails line up with the holes ,got the new grey carpet and kick panel carpet ok ,waiting on the door panels and seat covers . Dan how are you liking Florida 7" of snow here.Jim

Used a omni Mae dt 1351 charcoal poly for the dash and omni mtk m7394a charcoal lead foot grey for the wheel.Jim

Like it a lot. 6 degrees in GB right now with snow expected. They have 12 inches of snow already this year.

Ok guys, Finally received my color sample from Legendary for the white they have listed for the 65GS interior . This may be hard to tell by the picture but ill try it .
To me this looks to be an off white compared to the white paper it is stapled to .
I want to make sure the color white is right first before I tackle the grey carpet .
Any thoughts ?

Looks more like vinyl top material to me!? The grain doesn’t look right to me!? Maybe some of the other guys with white interior they have more recently done will chime in!!

John, Legendary only sells the off-white interior vinyl. That’s what was put into the turquoise convertible. It’s the only white they sell. If you can source some correct pattern white vinyl (like someone else on this forum did) Legendary will make your interior from that. The lead time would be horrific but ……

Hi ,just got my door panels from ledgendary look good ,color is ok now to finish putting them together had them attach the top metal strips should have sent the perimeter nail strips too. Jim

So I cleaned up a couple spots on the original white bucket seats that normally wouldn't be faded and now I'm not so sure that this isn't the right color .
The grain or pattern looks to be right on .
Thanks guys for your help and input . Think its time to make another call to Legendary and try to get something happening .

The correct carpet for white interiors is:
Auto Custom Carpet, 80/20 Loop pile, #35-1956 Charcoal

And if you need to dye or freshen up any plastic or vinyl, use:
SEM Color Coat Vinyl dye #15303 Graphite. It's a good match to the original gray trim.
Be sure to clean first with SEM vinyl prep.

The Legendary color was not listed as ?frost? white,but when I got mine I was happy with the color. I compared it to the original panels and seats and it looked very good. I ended up re-using my original windlace and it was a bit more non white compared to the panels. I don?t believe the oem color is a refrigerator type white,but it definitely is not parchment like the late 60?s GM. I would have to say it is somewhere between the two. In other words,if I look at what we call white leather seats these days?.our 65 color was not that white. I have only seen pics of others,but the panels offered by PUI look too white to me.

Hi,working on the white interior on our gs just got the door panels ,and am redoing the misc white trim pieces using dupont Lucie vinyl color 9625v code w- 3835 white sg med/g. Believe it matches up with 70 olds white.jim

Well Legendary sent me a color sample of grey carpet but they have the color listed as charcoal grey for a 81 ford .
Does this sound right ? Is charcoal grey charcoal grey regardless of what auto company is using it ?
sorry for all the questions , this sure is a hassle but id really like to get this right .

My front door panels from Legendary have carpet inserts described as "carpet #81 Charcoal". And the carpet I ordered from ACC was color 35 Graphite. When I ordered my door panels I asked about the source of the carpet for the inserts and was told it was ACC. Sounds like what they're quoting is right, but you might confirm with them that the carpet is from ACC and the color is Charcoal.

You are correct, carpet on the door panels and the kick panels should match the floor carpet.

I remember the carpet being listed as #81 when they did my door panels and they sent the kick panel carpet at the same time with a bead already sewn in so they could be attached to the plastic. You have to restore the plastic kick panels with the correct graphite SEM vinyl color and then attach the new carpet from Legendary. I used the same SEM vinyl color that we used on our dash plastic bezel that matches the dash pad in white interior cars. I believe it you look at the ACC carpet site they still use the code 81 for the gray carpet there also. As for the white?..it is simply the closest match available without finding NOS grain material and refinancing the farm. I have no problem with the color,but the grain is not a perfect match from my original.

Ahh , Thanks guys . That clears things up a little bit, it was just the way he had it written out that made it look like it was for a 81 ford when 81 is actually the color code .
