I am looking for someone who restores AFB carbs. Does not need to be show quality, but I would like it to look new and original. This is an original 65 GS four speed carb, so I want it done right. Any recommendations?
-
Carmen Faso at J&C Parts (716) 693 4090. He did the Qjet for my 66 GS and the AFB for my 65 GS. Both look and function fantastic. He is in the Buffalo, NY area.
-
Carmen does a fantastic job on the carbs but, due to some health issues, is pretty backed up with work. Would have to recommend finding someone else at the present unless you aren’t in a hurry.

Can you post some pics showing the current condition of the carb?

Here are the pic Brian.
Currently the Bucamino has a COB 4059S AFB. The pics are for a carb I bought online years ago and want to have restored, or at the least professionally rebuilt.
-
The 4059 is a California carb, probably a 1966 with a stick, I'm not sure.
-
Don't know where you are located. I talked to a guy in Tacoma Washington that rebuilds Carter and Rochester carbs. Don Monroe. 253-566-8488

I do them ALSO. Right now I'm doing 3/ 2x4 set-ups. One set from Holland. One set from Germany & one set from Poland along with recurving, rebuilding, restoring., recurving 3 distributors 7 installing electronic ignitions.
Every carb. & distributor I do gets installed on a running driving '64 Riv. I use for ONLY this purpose. Don't need any problems especially with overseas shipments.
IF there is a problem it's for sure a hassle for EVERYONE involved.
Unfortunately I'm in Ct. & your on the opposite side of the states in Ca.

Hey, Tom,
Do you replate all the parts that can rust? I have no problem with shipping, just want a good job that looks close to new. I had the fuel pump, and steering box, both restored, just like good looking parts.
Thanks, Kurt
-
Kurt,
I do not plate any parts. I polish the choke blade, throttle blades, shafts for smoother operation & other parts that can be polished. For parts that can't be polished I use a zinc type coating paint that, I think, closely resembles the OEM finish. IF nec. I do throttle shaft bushings & have the base of the carb. milled at a machine shop for flatness, etc.
Before I even start I take the carb. fully apart for an evaluation & give an estimate of what I think it will take to bring the carb. back to as new a condition as possible as well as test it like I mentioned.
It's up to you at that point. I require a $375.00 deposit to get started & IF for some reason it's a no go I will send you back at least $300.00 minus the shipping costs.

Thanks Tom and Buick_65 for your replies. I am going for the complete restore option. Never going to be a show car, but I like things to look new if possible.
