Can someone help regarding proper install for factory dual quad on my 401? None of my service manuals cover details of brackets, coil location etc. Was there a supplement service bulletin? I have or thought I had all the pieces but linkage to firewall and detente switch no fit? I’m attempting to be as factory correct as I can with my restoration. I heard a storey about dual quads on the 65 skylark, if u checked the box on dealer order for towing package, it came in the trunk and installed at dealer? True?

Hey Robin,
I've heard similar stories, but have yet to confirm that they were true.
Attached is a Technical Service Bulletin from 1966 detailing parts and installation of the 2x4 setup on 65 and 66 Skylark GSs. Regarding coil location, the bulletin shows it moved to the firewall, but I (and others, I'm sure) have been successful leaving it mounted vertically to the back of the intake manifold. Just to the left of the distributor in the attached picture. Just clears the linkage and seems to work well.

Here's another picture of the coil by the throttle linkage.

Chuck! Great pictures and very much appreciate your time, thanks so much. Any suggestion on an aftermarket air Cleaner? Seems our duals are unique, go figure eh!

So if I’m an auto car, where would the brackets mount for the sp servo?

The story about dual quads in the trunk , is just a story and nothing more. Chuck

There is a special bracket for that switch . It mounts to the intake, it is a very hard to find and normally really expensive when one pops up.

I can give you dimensions and a photo from my setup if that helps any. You could fabricate a bracket if you were a good welder. I might be able to 3D print one.

4" between bolt holes center to center and 2.25" from rear bolt hole center to pin for switch.
