Title: 1965 Skylark Parts - Craigslist
Post by: 65GSConv on March 28, 2020, 07:48:41 AM
On Craigslist starting March 26:  https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/d/tacoma-1965-buick-skylark-parts/7099219617.html

Looks like owner is parting out. Some of the small items look to be pretty nice actually. Just in case someone is looking for some smaller items.

My very helpful and tech-savvy wife said that the Captcha anti-bot software that Craigslist uses will block IP addresses that aren't local. Anybody on here from the Seattle area that would be willing to contact this dude?

I think the seller is a member here and posted a couple of years ago that he got in over his head on this project.
I'll see if I can find a thread.

Glad this is helping someone out!  Also learned a lot about Craigslist. So does that mean no one outside of a local area's posting can see the seller's contact information? If that's the case, selling stuff like Danny has here may be better on eBay?

So far, so good! Danny has been easy to work with. He sent me lots of pics, including the ones below. $85 for both pieces, shipped. He will be sending them out tomorrow. I'll update yall when the package arrives.

UPS delivered the package yesterday, and I am quite happy with the parts! The rear center emblem is especially nice, and the hood ornament is definitely restorable. If y'all need anything, I would recommend this seller!

Dear Sean and mid-60s Buick caregivers with an eye to fine detail,

Congratulations!  You have indeed gotten some very nice parts.  How were you planning to restore the hood ornament?  There is an old thread on how to restore hood ornaments:

I don't know if Loren can still have these ornaments repainted you might touch base with him and find out.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

To refresh the hood ornament, Cars, Inc. sells a Tri-Shield decal kit for $17.50. The kit contains two stick on decals. I use it to refresh a spare hood ornament I have. You carefully peel off the old tri shield emblem, use a cleaner to remove the old glue, peal off the backing material and stick on the new tri shield. Took all of ten minutes. Cars part #D418P

Thanks, Edouard! That thread is the exact recipe that I plan to follow. I do hope that Loren still has his contact for the paint work. I guess I can use the appliqu?s that CARS sells if I have to, but the red & blue shields are reversed on those, which is kinda hard to overlook. I appreciate the link!

Thanks, Glenn. I did find those decals from CARS & bought a set for my convertible. Is it just me, or are the colors on the shields reversed?

Sean, The front side of the emblem will have the colors red-white-blue from the front side and will be reversed blue-white-red on the back side.

Please don’t throw away the original tri shields - I’ll gladly take them off your hands!
