Title: whats a rolling 65-66 GS frame worth and is anybody looking for one
Post by: GranSportSedan on June 19, 2019, 07:11:27 PM
Curious what a solid rolling 65-66 GS boxed chassis is worth and is anybody looking for one? will have GS rear and suspension as well as steering box and front sway bar. I have no clue what to ask for it or what other brands used a boxed frame in 65-66

Man!! Yer a GO-GETTER. Are ya ready to part out some smalls yet? Maybe the outside rear view mirror? Driver quality is just fine!

Looks like youre being really methodical about dis-assembly. Kudos to you!   Bill

Advertise it as a 66 GTO convertible frame! To start with !They are the same! Also would fit 64-66 special, skylark, converts! Plus gs’s 65-67 ,the front cross member shape is unique to the 66! The 64-65
have a welded on pull tab! 66 has more of a duck bill shape! 67 has different rear spring pockets and
the rear cross member has a little different shape! Some 65 Gs frames also have small diagonal brackets
on the cross member! This was discussed here on the board! Might bring couple grand or more! , if rust free ( no pits) and  damage free, no alterations! Buick is the only one to use a boxed frame on all models! 65-67 GS’s except the 67 gs 340 and gs California’s! The other gm’s only used a boxed frames on the convertible models as did the Chevy elco’s ! Buick even use boxed frames on the sport wagons!

I wish you were on the East Coast Bob--I would love to buy the passenger (right) side fender off of the car.  Are you planning any trips east?!

I've seen them on Craigslist or Ebay from anywhere's between $750.00-$1400.00. Of course they where advertised as a GTO frame.

Tell us more about that rear end under the frame.  Posi, gears? It could be worth as much as the frame.

It'll fit Buick and Pontiac. The Chevelle frame is a little shorter in the rear extensions, about 2". Suppose it could be shortened to fit.
I believe Olds has wider front extensions to fit the wide radiators.
Not sure if it will fit the El Camino without mods. A boardmember, Kurt, has an elco on a 65 GS chassis.
Saw your ad on V8, $1k is a fair price but it may be hard to find a Buick buyer. A GTO guy would jump on it, maybe pay a bit more!
The 66 GS rear is unique to 66. It has larger diameter axles and larger wheel bearings. The housing has flared ends to accommodate the larger RW-507G bearings. 67 rear is the same except for the rear spring mount.
Jon covered the other 64-67 frame differences. The 67 frames do have additional crossmember mount locations for the longer ST400 trans.

just an open 2.93 ratio rear. I suppose the axles could be desirable
