Hey all , Curious to know is there a special sealant that goes on the steel shim intake manifold gaskets ?
Im getting ready to put the intake on and was just curious . I seem to remember some blueish liquid stuff in a small tube but that was a long time ago.

I just installed one on the 455 and FelPro was good enough to send a small tube of black RTV along that was just enough to do about 3/4 of the job (sparingly) I had to scramble for some black Good Stuff. We'll see how it works when it gets filled with coolant! Bill

Copper-coat or silver metallic paint.
Spray or brush all surfaces.
Proper torque, from center bolts, outward in crisscross and starting with low torque setting and then incremental steps until final torque.
After running/driving about 30 minutes for full heat soak and cool down a time or two, check with torque wrench at full value, center to outboard, crisscross and you should be good to go after.
Symptoms of leaking gasket will be hunting idle, low and or erratic vacuum reading.

I used Copper Coat too.
