Im constantly thinking of what to paint my Lark. One day Black one day Red, the other two tone. I find myself looking online for ideas. Now im thinking a dark green or butternut yellow. Im telling you :BangHead:
-
Is there some website were I can play with color combos?
-
Just look around on the street and check out the WOW paint on some new cars. Its even different than chips at a paint store. Find something that strikes your fancy and run with it! Bill

Dear Ronnie, Bill, and 65GS.com exterior decorators,
Im constantly thinking of what to paint my Lark. One day Black one day Red, the other two tone. I find myself looking online for ideas. Now im thinking a dark green or butternut yellow. Im telling you :BangHead:
Are you at all interesting in painting your car one of the original factory colors? This web page has the original colors with a sample paint chip and some cars painted that color:
http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?model=Buick&year=1965&con=yo (http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?model=Buick&year=1965&con=yo)
You can still order paint from major manufacturers in the original Buick factory colors. If a particular factory color appeals to you there is probably somebody on this board with their car painted in that color.
Of course that might make your decision making even harder!
Do let us know where your thinking takes you!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

We used to have a page titled "Paint Booth is Open". It was created by Chris H ten years ago. It appears to have been lost now and the link does not work.

Check the 'photo gallery' link on our home page. There's MUCH more to 65gs.com than the forum!
http://www.65gs.com/photogallery/ (http://www.65gs.com/photogallery/)
Factory color choices are also shown here:
http://65gs.com/documentation/ (http://65gs.com/documentation/)
While Black looks fantastic on a 65, it's not a great choice if you live in the desert or drive on dusty roads....it's high maintenance... it will always show the dirt and swirl marks need extra treatment. And it will get HOT sitting in the sun! A two-tone with white roof won't soak up the sun's heat so much.
Have you decided on an interior color? That may limit your exterior color choices.

Hi all,
If you're looking for factory color combos, I saw this on 442bro.com the paint section
http://www.442bro.com/ (http://www.442bro.com/)
Would be neat to have something like this on this site, wouldn't you think?
Either way do what you like, weather it's factory, 2-tone or custom, I personally saw a black and silver split a the body line/top of fenders/sail panels that I thought was sharp, especially with a red interior.
Years ago 20+ I got a pictures of one that someone painted up like a 70 SuperBee, had Super Buick on the logo, orange with black spoilers, all I could say was what were they thinking, but to each their own, after all its their car.
My post car I hope to be midnight blue with white inside the halo, I have a light blue interior, one day hopefully soon....it was originally sliver with blue interior.
Regards,
-
That is nice, looks like they have one of each possible color combination, or at least most of them. My brothers both had a 442 that was white with a painted red top.

Hello,
Here are a couple of my recent paint 1965 Convertible.
1st photo inside paint booth (Post clear coat).
2nd photo last week. I still need to mount front and rear bumpers, fender spears and rocker moldings.
The color is Arctic white, same as original color.
I can't wait to complete assembly and take for a ride.
Regards,
Robert

Walt the other day i was driving my work truck in the city I live which is know for being somewhat windy. During this week we where blessed with rain storms. Let me tell you Walt, a cloud of brown appeared. It was sand and the visability was very low, the sand began to hit the truck so hard at a violent speed for about 5 seconds. I laughed and said "wow that would of ruined a fresh paint job".

Thanks for the website. I once had a midnight blue car (diplomatic blue) i think it was called on 83 monte carlo and everyone love it, looked black in the night.

Ronnie,
I did get the bracket and its exactly the piece that I needed.
Thanks

Ronnie, do a search for 1965 Skylark or Skylark Gran Sport and click on the images that come up. One is a really nice yellow with a black top but many other great colors pop up.

Dear Ronnie, Robert, Jim, and mid-60 Buick color collectors,
If you have a burgundy, any green or yellow, or Gold please post
(http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink.gif). . . Remember, you are askin' for it! . . . :laughing7:
Here is my trusty wagon in her resplendent "Seafoam green."
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Biquette-upgrades-and-misc/Dings-in-Biquettes-driver-side-door-repainted/i-NZJxwQ6/0/1364f2f6/XL/Biquette%20port%20front-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Biquette-upgrades-and-misc/Dings-in-Biquettes-driver-side-door-repainted/i-NZJxwQ6/A)
If you look carefully, there is a slight different between the paint overall and immediately around the front edge of the driver's side door. This was just after I had some dings painted out. The body shop simply ordered the stock color and applied that. It was noticeable because the repainted area had no wax. A later picture shows that the area is essentially invisible.
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Biquettes-Autumn-2018-wash-and-wax/i-f9cNNTk/0/90d224b6/XL/Biquette%20-%20port%20front-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Biquettes-Autumn-2018-wash-and-wax/i-f9cNNTk/A)
So you shouldn't be afraid to order the stock 1965 colors so long as it is reputable company.
Speaking of the 1965 Buick greens, there are also a number of serious fans of "Verde Green" on this forum. You might have to poke a little, but it shouldn't be too hard to get photos of Buicks in that color posted here.
Come on' guys? What excuse you do need to post photos of your favorite Buick? . . . :hello2:
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

I can?t get pictures to post here.

Hello Folks
Factory black with red Interior. Originally with white soft top but is currently black.
Not a GS but not too bad on the eyes (I think).

Randy
My first GS was black 2dr HT with red interior a long time ago.
I sold it to help buy my first house but I think of it often.
Your picture makes it all come back again.
Thanks for the memory.

Im going in a different direction from the Diplomat Blue (code WW) on the 64. Im going Cobalt Blue with clear on top. It looked cruddy until the clear, then it popped! The OEM "WW" almost looked black. Gotta do something to brighten her up! Of course when ya pop the hood, theres gonna be a substantial WOW factor! ws

Geez Bill, you are really moving along . Looking good!

Thanks Loren! Really missed today (and tomorrow) and have to sit it out (literally) inside for 2 days. Got some G.I. issues that the doc has me on a "purge" for, much like studying for a C scope job, but this ones going down instead of up haha. Id much rather keep myself busy other ways. Should be getting a call to pick up the motor so I can start putting that together. Lotsa pics for that one for sure.
So today gave me a chance to rest up a bit and surf for some parts. Enjoy yer day fellas. Back in a bit LOL... Bill

Ok can anyone post pictures of the halo trim painted in 2 tone style. I have the halo option and am contemplating removing it but would like to see how it looks on another car before I make that decision :help:
