Ive noticed a lot of replies to posts contain some character that remind me of sandscrit for the lack of a better term. Does my stuff do this as well? I cant tell from this side of the keyboard. Im not a cell phone player either. Ideas? Thoughts?? It not regular HTML programming.... ws
an example...
Aren’t the ‘66 rear ends an inch wider than the ‘65’s ?

Looks fine here! I'm using Firefox on a desktop.
I think some browsers mess up punctuation marks.
-
Looks good from here. An Apple iPad user. And the answer is yes they are an inch wider.

Nothing unusual here either. Windows 10 PC using Chrome browser.

Hi Bill,
I don't see anything unusual on either my iPhone or laptop using Microsoft 10. Maybe post a screen shot of what you are seeing.

Just came in from blowing 20" worth of snow with 4-5 drifts all over. This is a direct copy and paste of what I see on my page, and its only here. Being the crypto-analyst that I am, it appears to be an HTM code for apostrophes'. ws

The “GS” manual trans tailshaft - besides “GS” what other casting numbers/letters should the tailshaft have?

Dear Bill, Walt, Dan, Chuck, Loren, and 65GS.com technology users,

Odds are that you are running into a problem with your browser somehow using the wrong convention for the character set. On this page is a list of some of the available character sets and the differences between them:
https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_charset.asp (https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_charset.asp)
One common problem is that single quote characters come in actually 3 flavors. What you will find on your keyboard is a single vertical bar like this: '
However, your examples have quotes that serve to wrap around the text like this: ‘ . . . ’
The same applies to double quotes. Are the codes you are seeing looking like this: ' or perhaps this: '
Those are indeed escape sequences to make sure the browser displays the character you want even if you are creating the text in a austere environment that doesn't actually allow you type that character. Yes, that problem existed back da' ol' days.
You might try cruising through your browser's settings to see if there is something you could tweak related to language.
Let us know if any of this advice is helpful.
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Sorry Bill, those phrases both appear normal on my computer. Maybe Edouard's suggestion will help????

Isnt that strange?? Pats on the wireless router and reads the same as mine, which is hardwired. I surf worldwide and this is the only place Ive encountered this phenomenon :icon_scratch: ws

If sent from my IPad I get weird symbols in place of apostrophes, quotation marks, etc.

I get the strange symbols if I'm using my work computer..... Windows 7 using Chrome browser.
