Title: Hood emblem and Battery Hold down
Post by: Rbear571 on December 14, 2009, 09:59:29 PM
I'm cleaning up my 65 Skylark GS; I have only looked at one supply house which name rhymes with Year Ton.  I can't seem to find where they carry the round Buick emblem on the hood of the car.  I am also looking for the original style battery hold down equipment; I tightened one of the nuts a little too hard and broke it like an idiot.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks and be safe.

Rob,

Cars, Inc. has a reproduction hood ornament, but I don't know if it includes the base and speed nuts for it. It's not pictured in their ad. NOS ones are extremely rare. Good pit free, non faded, used ones are also hard to come by.

Cars, Inc. also has a reproduction battery clamp bolt. You may need to cut it to length.  They did at one time also have the clamp that goes over the top of the battery, but can't see it listed on their website. However, in an old catalog, it's listed as part # BC-65GS. If you need this also, you might have to call them and inquire.

John,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.  I'm going to try and order those items today.
