My aunt sent me a thumb drive for Christmas of old family photos that were put on disc. As I was scrolling through them for the first time I came across these. My dad hired into Buick in Flint in '64 and did 41 plus years and now he's unable to operate a microwave. Merry Christmas everyone and a safe and blessed New Year. Cherish those you love cause life is short.....

Dear Jonesy and mid-60s Buick lovers, . . . :love4:

WOW! These are really neat pictures! Thanks for sharing! I don't recognize the hub caps on your Dad's Skylark. Is this a particular trim package?

My sympathies as indeed life on this earth can be very harsh and challenging as we grow older. Nonetheless, it really should be the time of year when we look forward to the world to come when all the burdens of human existence are lifted from us and we finally come to experience what love has always been trying to become.
Cheers, Edouard

Yes, cool old picture, thanks for sharing!

Maybe one of our more seasoned Skylark gurus would be able to answer the trim package question? Loren? Brian?

I was gong to ask what the hubcaps were. Maybe an aftermarket item ? Looks like there is a tassel from a graduation cap hanging from the rear view mirror. Also don't see a knob for day/night mirror. Probably didn't have the interior convenience package. Exterior looks to be standard Skylark with the addition of wheel opening moldings.

Wheel covers look like roulette wheels... (http://www.wootmonkey.com/upload/2018/09/12/20180912121402-bb49a024.gif)

Searched for the caps online. Possibly 61 Dodge Phoenix Matador.

I can't imagine that a brand new Buick would come with dodge hub caps but I guess anything is possible. I don't think my dad would have put them on but who knows?

Once more that's a really amazing resemblance. I think we can safely discount the car coming from the factory with those hub caps. The most plausible explanation is that a relatively new Chrysler car got totaled in some way that didn't damage the hub caps. Then hook or crook they found their way onto your Dad's Buick. However they got there, they do look very nice and aren't detracting from the fact that the car is a Buick.
Indeed da' plot thickens. . . . .

i think, for whatever reason, that caps and hood ornaments were stolen the most. Probably because they're easy to steal.
My Skylark came with oldsmobile caps, and a missing hood ornament.
Jonesy, I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. Yes, life is short.

Jonesy,
Sorry to hear about your dad, the picture with your father looks to be made with the negative backwards, as it appears the antenna is on the wrong side.
Thanks for sharing, neat to see old pictures of when they were newer.

Jim,
You are correct. When put to disc and then to drive most of the pics were reversed. Thanks bro, I appreciate it. Hope all is well.

Interesting hubcaps. I put a similar set on a 64 Skylark convertible I used to own. They looked pretty good.
