how do you guys manage to get pictures posted that don't need to be clicked?

Dear Bob, Michael, Loren, and mid-60s Buick car spotters,
I recalled two photos I had of mid-60s Buick A-bodies "in da' wild." One was being serviced at Orinda Classic Car:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Classic-cars-at-large/Misc-classic-vehicle-photos/i-cztcX5r/0/b7c05cd2/XL/1964%20Skylark%20convertible%20-%20starboard%20front-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Classic-cars-at-large/Misc-classic-vehicle-photos/i-cztcX5r/A)
I had hoped to get some photos of this car next to Biquette but the opportunity never materialized.
The other car was at the muffler shop that installed Biquette's exhaust:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Classic-cars-at-large/Misc-classic-vehicle-photos/i-5kkbwPX/0/0580da1c/XL/1965%20Buick%20Skylark-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Classic-cars-at-large/Misc-classic-vehicle-photos/i-5kkbwPX/A)
Obviously in tougher shape body-wise but clearly still drivable.
how do you guys manage to get pictures posted that don't need to be clicked?
There are two ways. You can put the photos on a web server if you need to host some web pages. I do this as part of a beta-testing project I'm on but it is technical. Another way is to use an online photo hosting service that has a feature to post photos on forums. I use SmugMug:
https://www.smugmug.com/ (https://www.smugmug.com/)
It is a paid service, but I take enough photos that it is worth it for me. SmugMug recently acquired Flickr:
https://www.flickr.com/ (https://www.flickr.com/)
They do offer a free service with similar capabilities. You have to learn how to use it, but it does make managing photos online a lot easier.
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Nice photos! Is it weird that I live in 'Skylark Park' and one house from 'Skylark Lane?'

If any of the street signs, should fall on the ground from a wind storm or something, let me know, I would be happy to help relocate them from being a road hazard and keep them from hurting anyone by attaching them to my garage wall...

Here's my '66 Special Deluxe, one of only 10,350 V8 sport coupes built in 1966. I bought it in Sept 1996 for $1300. The PO had a nice '66 Chevelle and bought the Buick for his 15 /yo son, but the son was more interested in Hondas than Buicks (sad isn't it!). Only had 53k miles on it and barely had more than a finger-tip sized rust hole in the body.
I used it as a fair-weather daily driver until I started the repaint. Car was stripped from the firewall-forward. Frame and suspension components were sandblasted and painted, then reassembled with some used GS springs, disk brakes, fast-ratio steering box and Trans Am 1.25" sway bar. Moog 6197 springs are in the rear on the stock 2.78 rear. Body was stripped to bare metal and I painted it in my garage with PPG base/clear.
The 300 engine was upgraded with a '64 aluminum 4 bbl intake, 67 340 carb and valve covers, Petronix ignition and dual exhaust. I painted it red to better match the car. Buick used red anyway on the higher-performance 340 and GS 401, so I felt it was fitting.
In 2006, I pulled the st300 trans and installed a 3 speed manual. It was a fun trans with the extra low v6 first gear, but it was getting noisy and wasn't going to last. In 2008, I found a Richmond 5 speed to replace the 3 speed. It does not have an overdrive, but does have an extra low 3.26 first gear that works very well with the 2.78 rear.
It's a great driving car which I drive the more than my GS's.... I figure it's less likely to get stolen from a parking lot and it's easier to replace than a GS. Less worry = more fun!

Great pictures here of great cars. I am getting my grandkids interested in vintage cars and so far so good.

Looks great Walt! I see you blacked out the finish panel, GS-like.
-
Thanks guys. Yes, I had to paint that back panel black, body color just didn't look right to me! The Deluxe comes with the same r panel trim strips as the GS, so it was easy. I blacked out the grille too.
-
I had a 1964 Special and found a '64 Skylark in a junkyard and grabbed the rear center trim panel.
The "frosted" paint was a bit scratched, so I used polishing compound and hand rubbed it and then drilled the holes and stuck it on.
It just made the car so much nicer to me.
Funny how a small thing has such a great impact.
I am not a purist, and try to keep the "spirit" of any mods. One of the reasons I was attracted and "stayed" with Buicks, is they are not "just another whatever", and taking a bit of license and liberty in tasteful changes are fine with me.
Especially for those cars that are in such poor shape. Getting them into drivable condition and keeping them "alive" is a good thing.
But I also appreciate the specimens that are pure and original. And am grateful for the time, effort and expense of those who restore, keep and preserve them.

I bought this car from a good friend in the USAF in the 70s. It was his dad's, and he got it and after a few months wanted a Mustang Mach 1, so I bought it.
A long story, but to shorten it a great deal, I replaced the entire driveline, put front disc on it, built the engine and several other things in front of a trailer home on a sandy dirt road in about 3 months by myself, except when my wife helped me carry the short block out of the trailer and a friend standing "fire guard" when I broke it in.
To say "I loved" this car would be an understatement, and after I let it go, I actually had dreams of this car, many times, finding it and it always in a "sad state" needing some work to get it fired up for nearly 40 years, and that led me to buy the 1964 Skylark convertible, and that led to me buying the 1968 Skylark after missing out on a 1968 Wildcat.
Yeah, I live Buick. I dream Buick, and I love Buick.
I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell Buick...

I don't dream of the Special anymore, not since I got the Skylark Convertible. But as troublesome as the dreams were, it is odd that I did get to "experience" that car again, and I "miss" it even more. But, new memories and new things to experience with these two I have now. Likely these are my last cars, but I am going to make the most of them.
And I am having a blast!
(I am working on the entire drive line to replace on the 68 to make the front tag "honest"... )

Dear mid-60s Buick lovers, . . . :love4:
I wanted to contribute some fresh pictures to this thread but California is doing its autumn imitation of a monsoon season and that makes taking classic cars out a dicey proposition. We have had a few dry days before the next round of rain so today was basically now or never:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-wLg55vg/0/11ca9e15/XL/Biquette%20and%20fall%20trees%20-%20port%20front-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-wLg55vg/A)
My rascally wagon still looks really good even if she hasn't been waxed since September 2016! Here is a view of that important tailgate with some more Autumn foliage in the background:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-BPKLJn9/0/45e75136/XL/Biquette%20and%20fall%20trees%20-%20starboard%20rear-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-BPKLJn9/A)
Biquette's new tires definitely are more "assertive!" For those of you missing those fall trees here is a portrait view:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-kB35tht/0/c1857e4a/X2/Biquette%20and%20fall%20trees%20-%20starboard%20rear%20portrait-X2.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-kB35tht/A)
Finally here is one last view of Biquette's passenger side:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-f75FGdT/0/d40570a0/XL/Biquette%20and%20fall%20trees%20-%20starboard-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-in-Autumn-2018/i-f75FGdT/A)
She is back in the garage and will have to wait out the next round of storms which could run beyond next weekend. That's good for putting out wildfires, but definitely not conditions for even a racially 50+ year old Buick!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Awesome photos everyone.
-
64 Skylark. Bought it in 1993 from the original owners that are friends of the family. I grew up around this car--they drove it to church alot on Sunday evenings back in the late 80s when I was in high school. They special ordered it new with the 4-speed--was their first car when they got married.
-
66 Skylark. Bought new in Richmond, VA by my grandfather with some of the money he got when his dad passed away in early 66. I have had it since June of 1987 when my grandfather passed away (I was 16 at the time). It had 75k miles when it got it, so was in excellent mechanical condition, but body was rough due to him backing into things when he got older and multiple Earl Scheib paint jobs on the car.

Do you think you could scare up a photo of Ruthy to add to the collection? Anyone else have a photo of their 64-66 A-Body that they would like to share?

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick caregivers,
I am still working on my cooling system overhaul.
Well, that is a clear impediment to taking pictures of Ruthy. I do hope you can succeed with the minimum of blood and sweat and of course no tears!
I'm hoping to get it done before the storms blow all the leaves away! And, take some new photos.
That may be a tough deadline to meet! At least up here the weather is definitely wild and woolly!

Lots of nice 64-66 Specials and Skylarks around here!

Some of you might remember Mike and Jeff Spence from Tony?s party in Milwaukee. They drove Mikes 66 Gran Sport to the party. Jeff was still working on his 64 Skylark. Jeff?s car is done now and he sent some pictures to share.
Before picture is below.

Dear Brian and mid-60s Buick caregivers,
All pics are of the same car.....a couple of them were taken before I owned it. It just seems to sit here being buried under stuff........... According to the picture I've owned it for about 11 years.........
Thanks for sharing! It isn't the sort of thing we imagine for a car, but 50+ years is a lot of time for anything to be around. All these cars have stories to tell.
Cheers, Edouard

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
It might not even remotely look like it where you live but today is the Vernal Equinox marking the transition from Winter to Spring. Okay, might might a long time for your region to catch up with the astronomical alignments, but here in California Spring comes early. So to remind everyone of upcoming attractions and encourage those in milder climates to keep your camera handy, I have a few photos of my trusty wagon in Spring:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-Rg4NX73/0/2e6dbd89/M/Biquette%20and%20Spring%20trees-M.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-Rg4NX73/A)
As always, you can click on the pictures to get a larger image. Here is a photo taken next to the Moraga ranch:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-gZ6WPzH/0/cdf77bff/M/Biquette%20in%20front%20of%20spring%20tree-M.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-gZ6WPzH/A)
Here is one of that very important tailgate:

Finally, here is a view of the driver's side against a row of blooming plum trees:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-3fpJw9c/0/20def601/M/Biquette%20and%20white%20blooming%20trees-M.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-3fpJw9c/A)
Actually I had plans to take two more pictures, but alas those opportunities went up in a cloud of steaming coolant (http://65gs.com/board/index.php/topic,2610.msg31707.html#msg31707)!
Even if it seems far away, Spring is definitely on its way no matter where you live!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:
P.S. Those of you who can already drive your classic Buick - don't forget your camera or smart phone! (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/kodak.gif)
-
HA !! Spring... I dealt with 16 springs yesterday :hello2: Making progress. Maybe today Ill bolt the clutch and trans up to the long block for an install saturday morning. I say long block since the hoist is getting to the "iffy" stage with a loaded motor and trans. Heater core is back in and buttoned up with lotsa little stuff coming together... Its been a long winter!
Looking for a driver quality air cleaner like this one in the pic with 2 nozzles; NOT the GS horns. Just looking for something different... Bill
-
Looks good Bill. I just can't seem to get used to all that red, though.... :laughing7:
A warmer, drier and happy weekend to all!
:cheers2:
Chuck

The pictures almost look like you used Chrysler red on that engine?

Dear Bill, Chuck, Brian, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

A warmer, drier and happy weekend to all!
By all means wishing you the same! :sunny:

Its really a digital illusion. Thats Bright Cherry Red from Rustoleo. Its as red as can be, so Ill call it a camera setting. With or without flash dont matter. I almost went CAT Yellow. DANG the judges, full speed ahead!
Blew today off after the Cardiologists' visit. The bad news is that I dont see him until 3-25-2020. Everything is AOK... Cant even play the sympathy card. Shucks.
Gonna get back on it tomorrow. Pat gave me the day off. Probably get the motor and trans mated up, if all goes well of course, and toss it in the BAD LASS Sunday. Just a bunch of bolts to go. Right. We'll see where we get Film at 11:00! Bill
-
Hats off to you. Projects around here look the same for months with no change.
-
Dear Bill, Jim, and mid-60s Buick restorers,
Its really a digital illusion. Thats Bright Cherry Red from Rustoleo. Its as red as can be, so Ill call it a camera setting.
Okay that explains a few things! So you don't feel the need to use high temperature engine paint? I suppose you've never had a problem with Rustoleum?
Blew today off after the Cardiologists' visit. The bad news is that I dont see him until 3-25-2020. Everything is AOK... Cant even play the sympathy card. Shucks.
(http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink_smile_triangle.gif) . . . . . Of course you can't play the sympathy card! Quite the opposite, you should send a sympathy card to your cardiologist! The fellow won't be able to make any more money off of you for a whole year! . . . . We'll see where we get Film at 11:00!
It may seem strange, but it really makes me feel old to think of how many "youngsters" have no idea what "story at 6, film at 11" actually means! The world has changed an awful lot in our lifetimes!

In by 9, out by 5 was a slogan from Earl Scheib for a complete paint job!
Spray paint is two components... A vehicle (clear) and plastic coloring for opacity. The rustoleum has served me well for many years, and the zinc primer underneath helps the temp issue. My 72 455 with headers has nice red paint AT THE HEAD TO HEADER JOINT after 5 years of daily summer driving. $25 a can for some stupid red Buick paint?? Not this cowboy. BTW, I do have the BIG Buick belt buckle haha... YEEHAWW!!!! ws

Model T Fords used that color, almost. Hank called it MOLE SKIN. I think its more akin to O.D. Every professional amateur is gonna think this thing is a chevelle with a 454 in it anyway. After today's work I am realizing one thing; this guy is gonna be a MONSTER!
COMPLETELY bolted in for the duration. Had to pull the solenoid off the starter to get that in. Its gonna be a real cork smoker getting exhaust manifolds in. Trans X member is in and parking brake cable looks like somebody came and did it.
Check the roller chain to pump arm clearance with several full rotations of the assembly and no sign whatsoever of a scratch from the chain. Hmmm... Bill

Good Morning,
Went out for a shakedown ride yesterday.
1st time on road since paint.
I decided to delete the side molding, I'm not sure if I like it as much without the trim.
Here are my latest pictures.
Regards,
Robert

Looking good Robert! With just the front spears, it gives a GS look. I like it!

Dear Robert, Chuck, and mid-60 Buick lovers, :love4:

What is the spear on the hood from? Is that an oem piece? Dan

I think that might be light reflection off the hood and not what appears to be an uncommon spear. Sure looks like it fits well if it is a spear!

Maybe from Pontiac Tempest.
I saw a 1965 Skylark on Ebay with the same hood spear.

Yes , it's 65 Lemans or Tempest which I modified to use stock holes incase I wanted to put back stock .

Dear Iain, Mike, Dan, Chuck,Robert, and mid-60s Buick owners of photogenic cars,
Thanks Iain and Mike for sharing pictures of your car! :hello2:
Indeed the seasons are changing here in California. The grasses are already turning to seed here in the San Francisco East Bay.
I hope we'll see more pictures as Buicks finally wake up from their long winter's hibernation!

I figured it was a fairly rare piece and thought it looked OEM. Chuck had me trying to blow up the pic larger because I thought it may be a reflection....or he just wanted to see how long I would stare at it (simple that way)....lol. It looks very good on there and adds to the rest of the chrome.

It does look nice!

Dear mid-60s Buick lovers, :love4:
After I cleaned up the engine bay, I had to drive a bit of make sure everything was good and dry. While I was at it, I parked Biquette in front of some of the last bits of California Springtime scenery. Here is a tree that still had some white blossoms and plenty of leaves too:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-ptxm3LK/0/fcbc86a1/XL/Biquette%20next%20late%20blooming%20tree-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-ptxm3LK/A)
I also caught this photo with some wisteria growing in the background:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-9h9qKLg/0/0d621fe1/XL/Biquette%20next%20to%20wisteria%20-%20front-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-9h9qKLg/A)
So when Spring comes to your part of the country, don't hesitate to photograph your Buick next to the neighbor's scenery - at least when they aren't looking! (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/big_grin_triangle.gif)

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
Biquette always has been a part of the family and that leads to some unexpected situations. Since she doesn't go out in the rain if possible, the other cars in the house do. So this spring, Biquette was the last car to get a springtime wash and wax. I didn't manage to finish her until Tuesday. Yesterday was the first chance she had to get out since getting all cleaned and shined up. So I took my camera and took a few photos. Here is one against this structure in a nearby town that looks old enough to be from the 1960s:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-6nTBSFR/0/30cbf45c/XL/Biquette%20at%20Moraga%20Barn%20-%20port-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-6nTBSFR/A)
The building turns out to be the Moraga "barn." (http://www.moragabarn.com/) Sure is the nicest looking barn I've seen in a long time! :icon_scratch:
Having a soft spot for California Poppies, I took this photo next to a group growing in a neighbor's yard:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-ZB8V5mr/0/a275978c/XL/Biquette%20and%20CA%20poppies%20-%20front-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-ZB8V5mr/A)
After all, Biquette is a California girl! :sunny:
With the Memorial day weekend approaching, surely some other mid-60s Buicks have come out of hibernation. Next time you get your classic Buick out, don't forget your camera! (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/camera_small.gif)

Beautiful pictures Edouard!
Here's an off the wall question....what do you use to make your whitewalls so white? I have a set of tires that have more yellow color to the whitewalls and would like to get them looking new again.
Thanks,
Chuck
-
My method. Carefully use non-chlorinated brake cleaner on a rag, spray to wet the finger wrapped in the cloth, then wipe the raised white letters. And keep changing to a clean spot on the rag.
(I pray away from the car).
It takes some time, but they are very nice and bright.
It does not appear that any "white" residue is on the rags, only the grime, so I do not think it is doing any damage to the rubber.

Dear Bill, Chuck, Michael, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,
Here's an off the wall question....what do you use to make your whitewalls so white? I have a set of tires that have more yellow color to the whitewalls and would like to get them looking new again.
Unfortunately, I really can't help you with tires that have already started to yellow. Perhaps Michael's suggestion would work. I've always been lucky in keeping the white walls white. I believe the key is to use one of those long lasting tire dressings. For literally decades I used Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel:
https://www.meguiars.com/automotive/products/meguiars-endurance-tire-gel-g7516-16-oz-gel (https://www.meguiars.com/automotive/products/meguiars-endurance-tire-gel-g7516-16-oz-gel)
I've switched to Griot's garage long lasting tire dressing:
https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/long-lasting+tire+dressing+16+ounces.do (https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/long-lasting+tire+dressing+16+ounces.do)
Although honestly I've not noted any real difference between the products. For tire cleaning I have been using Griot's garage rubber cleaner:
https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/rubber+cleaner.do (https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/rubber+cleaner.do)
I have not found anything better but honestly I haven't looked much since finding this product. I also have used from time to time Griot's garage rubber prep:
https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/rubber+prep+16+ounces.do (https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/rubber+prep+16+ounces.do)
It is the only product I know of that can remove the lubricant that is used to mount new tires.
I have a particular way of applying the long lasting tire dressings. As soon as I dry the car from washing, I apply the tire dressing with at least two coats and I let it sit as long as practical. Usually it is sitting while I wax. Finally, just before driving the car I buff the tire dressing with a cloth.
This procedure seems to be able to protect the rubber of even our car that stays outside for 1/2 the year. I manage to do this procedure twice a year and that seems good enough to keep Biquette's white walls white. Of course she is garage kept though.
I hope that's some help!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Dear owners of photogenic mid-60s Buicks,
We had a 25% your entire purchase at CVS coupon, so Biquette got the call to stock up over there. I had taken some photos of the tailgate end of things on Wednesday, but I misjudged the sun's angle and they didn't turn out. So today was a "makeup day" at the Moraga barn:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-7KNrqXT/0/26be6024/XL/Biquette%20at%20Moraga%20Barn%20-%20rear-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-7KNrqXT/A)
Here is one more with an overall view of the building:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-8BKZdCk/0/71757dea/XL/Biquette%20at%20Moraga%20barn%20-%20overall%20view-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-2019/i-8BKZdCk/A)
The Memorial day weekend is apparently also the unofficial start of classic car season. I saw 4 other classics on a 7 mile round trip! They were: a classic Ford Mustang, a 60s Corvette Stingray, and 2 Volkswagens of the same vintage!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
Today's the day! The Summer Solstice! You can see at what time it happens for your home town on this extensive list of times:

It doesn't matter what is the condition of your car. We want to see them all!! :hello2:

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
Tony was nice enough to send me some photos of his 1965 Special and I had a moment to scan them into my computer. Tony just sent me a PM in which he writes:
Edouard, Sure you can post the photo/photos if you want.
So without further ado Attached to this posting are the 3 pictures! I asked Tony about the hub caps on his Special. He replied:
As far as the wheel covers go, the original owner must have paid extra for them OR my father may have put them on to dress it up a bit. But as far as I remember that style of wheel cover was always on the Special.
Does anybody know about the various hubcaps that were available on the 1965 Buick A-bodies? Biquette had the very plain "dog dish" style. Where there any other optional styles available?
Thanks Tony for sharing!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Are these all your cars Mark? Hard to believe the 66 GS cars still have their hoods.
-
Hey Mark... are any of these available for parts? I need a few pieces of side trim for my '64 special. The '64 stuff just pops off and has spear tips at the ends that are easily accessible through-screwed in the front and the trunk. Please let me know if at all possible... Bill in TR
-
The convertible looks like a ?64, too. The trim is too wide to be a ?65.
-
Possibly... the '64 special has trim thats just about a 3/4" wide aluminum strip. Easily dinged and hard to straighten. I think the give away is the ventiport placement on the 64's. Those are usually above the trim, I think... Bill
-
Does anybody know who owns this one? It was on a delivery shipment a couple years ago when they dropped offf a truck at my place. Very solid four speed convertible with parchment interior and GS option.
-
the cars that are parted down are in a junkyard in Oklahoma on the Kansas Border..ive tried and tried to buy cars from this guy and he's a mess..there are some really cool stuff in there, but he just wouldnt play ball...
the rest is cars ive had in the past and are gone except for the silver 66...all the others, i parted and almost all of the stuff sold on the V8 board, and helped fix other cars..there where 3 more 66GS's i cant find my pics..wierd that all of them had their hoods and louvers
-
When this one was on it's way to a new home about 2 years ago......sold it for $6500. I gave the guy a rebuild motor that never was fired up on the stand too.

Thanks marxjunk and Brian for sharing the nice photos! . . . :hello2:

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
It's official! The Solstice was over the weekend and it is now summertime! :sunny:
It is certainly not going to be the same driving season as past years, but hopefully, most everyone will manage to get their cars out for a bit of exercise this year. While you are at it, don't forget your camera to share with us pictures of your beloved Buick! :love4:
To kick of the photo season, I managed to take 2 photos of my trusty wagon yesterday. Here is one in the parking lot of a local church:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-Summer-2020/i-fbJbB5m/0/2419da4a/L/Biquette%20and%20dried%20out%20hillsides%20-%20starboard%20front-L.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-Summer-2020/i-fbJbB5m/A)
This church has some space in which to expand and I wanted to capture what the dry hillsides are looking like these days in California. This photo has a lesson for would-be car photographers. I had hoped to have the sun illuminating the grill and passenger side of Biquette. Instead you can see that the sun is very harsh on the roof and hood, but the grill and tires in the shade. What happened to me is that I didn't take into account the slope of the hill which was tipping the car toward the sun. As a result, the sun was coming down almost directly on the roof and the lip of the hood was enough to keep the grill completely in the shade! As a general rule, you'll get better photographs the further away you get from the noontime sun.
Here is another photo of a similar scene:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-Summer-2020/i-942SJZm/0/2b8d2132/L/Biquette%20and%20dried%20out%20hillsides%20-%20port%20rear-L.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Spring-Summer-2020/i-942SJZm/A)
This time the road was flat and the car is reasonably illuminated. The background is the new standards being required by the CAL FIRE to try to prevent the sort of uncontrolled burning that occurred in the Camp fire. Perhaps it is effective, but it sure looks hot, dry, and desolate! (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/desert-smiley.gif)
So if you live in places with more pleasant backdrops - please do post pictures of your car in your more hospitable surroundings! (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/kodak.gif)
I sure would appreciate seeing classic cars in happier scenes than I'm surrounded with at the moment!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
It can hardly be called fun, but time is flying by this year. Today is the official start of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. On Sunday, I noticed an interesting reflection of the sunrise in the cargo area window of my trusty wagon:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Autumn-2020/i-27RMvkP/0/2c8549ed/L/Sunrise%20reflected%20in%20Biquette%27s%20window-L.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Autumn-2020/i-27RMvkP/A)
It seemed like a good way to mix the astronomical alignments with a classic Buick!
Alas for many of you, the time is fast approaching when your will have to store your Buick for the winter. Still there is hopefully time for a few more drives this year. If you can, please bring along your camera or smart phone to take a picture of your Buick to share with the rest of us. (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/kodak.gif) These days we all can use some cheering up and we all have a soft spot for mid-60s Buicks! :love4:
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:
-
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,
I'm sure some of your cars are already tucked away for the winter. Other's probably only have another week or two. Autumn came late here in California. However, I do have one contribution before the seasons turn completely:
(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Autumn-2020/i-G7WCTPh/0/bafc0e6f/L/Biquette%20at%20a%20Moraga%20office%20park%20with%20fall%20trees-L.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette-Autumn-2020/i-G7WCTPh/A)
If anyone else can squeeze in an Autumn photo before the seasons turn, by all means do so! Otherwise, I suppose this is an early occasion to wish everyone a safe, if somewhat somber, Thanksgiving.
Cheers, Edouard

Dear Loren and mid-60s Buick lovers, :love4:
I saw this over on the GM Skywagon Club Facebook page.
Thanks for sharing! I don't think I've ever seen that travel trailer before. Sure is amazing the variety of trailers that have been produced over the years!

It appears to be European from the tags. It looks like a simple 2 piece fiberglass shell with rubber channel set windows. Probably pretty weather tight instead of the U.S. built stuff with aluminum framed windows and side panels with lots of leak potential. Nothing worse than having to sleep in a wet bed LOL... Bill

Dear Bill and mid-60s Buick caregivers with an itch for road-trips,

All on the mark as well. Even today there is a loyal following to the molded fiberglass travel trailers. There is only one thing wrong with them . . . . . None of them look nearly as classy as an Airstream! . . . . :angel4:
