A quick flight out of MSP and you could be there in a couple hours and take it for a test drive!   The car looks to be in really good condition from the pics.  Looks like the engine has at least been painted before because someone painted the trans Buick engine green at the same time.  Console and shifter all look correct.  Some really nice options on that car too--would make a nice driver to take to shows.

I like it. Does it have the original block though, looks like the numbers don?t match the VIN.

The non-numbers matching block is likely why the price came down so much.

I really like the car but theres lots of things that just don,t seem right . The trim tag for one is held on by a single rivit in the middle .Don,t know whats up with the brake lines coming out of the master cyl. ( incorrect routing ) must have the wrong air filter element . and with such low milage why would the engine be replaced and trans already rebuilt . Guess its time to give em call.

First thing I would ask for is the rest of the numbers off the front of the block so you can see if it has a 425 or a 401 in it.  Since it is not numbers matching, there is a chance that someone put in 401 (easy to find) when they blew up the 425.  Simple check of the code will tell you.  Should be either an LW (single 4bbl) or LX (dual quads) to be a 65 425. KW or KX if it is a 64 engine, and MW or MZ if a 66 engine (not sure why the dual quad engine went from X to Z in 66).

literally just got off the phone with the guy selling the car . BUYER BEWARE . The guy knows a lot but  :icon_puke_r: !!!
He says GM never put the vin on the blocks like mopar did !  Says the trim tag is original and never been messed with . the list goes on and on .

Makes me wonder if someone didn't take a regular automatic wildcat convertible and put the 4-speed and dual quads from a rusty hardtop car in it to make a 4-speed convertible.

The trim tag on the car decodes to
W = Tinted windshield
2L = 4 speed trans
5K = Door edge guards

The J paint code is Verde Green, so that matches the car.  The 2 can mean a black vinyl top, but I think the * after it may make it a black convertible top?  Someone else please chime in here....

I would also be careful of this one as the vin rivets are not rosette and It is not a early one! They don't look correct! The colors are right to the body tag the * was maybe used for a accent color! As pointed out the body tag has been off the car! Also the other options should be listed on the body tag but I don't see all of them listed!? The only block that wouldn't have a vin on it is either a warranty replacement or used by buick engineering! Car is a nice color combo and options are cool it would cost a lot to build one like it!

Would be interesting to see if the vin is stamped on the four speed case
On the cars that I have had they did but never had a wildcat!

   I remember this Buick from last year ! I brought up this subject at the Long Island Buick Club ( Chapter of the BCA) meeting and no one had ever seen this Buick before. and we have members all over the Island from Queens in the west to Montauk in the east.. And you would think that someone would have seen it at a show or driving around, but it's a big mystery. Makes me think that it's not from this area at all. The current owner may have purchased it from another state. We are having another chapter meeting tomorrow night so i will bring it up again and see if anyone went to see it, If i get any info i will let you know. It's a 2 hour ride from my house to Bridgehampton where the Buick is located. So i'm not going to look at it. I just have too much work to get done on my GS project before the cold weather sets in.

Another thing the guy told me was the owner didn't know how to drive a manual trans car so he would have someone drive it to the shows for him .
LOL

It would be a great car to cruise around in and it would be very difficult to build one like this.

   I brought up the subject at our chapter meeting last night and it was reported that a chapter member had seen it sitting in front of  a used car/consignment shop while driving west on Montauk hwy, in Bridgehampton LI. Other than that no one knows about the Buick...the mystery continues  :icon_scratch:

Looks like the car sold for starting price of $25,000.  Anyone know who bought it?
