when your painting a nailhead for a 65 is the proper way to paint it with the brackets on the engine or off .
I see that the aluminum alt. bracket doesn,t have any paint on it which means that the 2 head bolts have to be removed .
Do you just remove those 2 bolts and the alt bracket prior to painting ? Seems odd to go through the cylinder head torque sequence and the remove 2 of the bolts to paint it .
wonder how the factory did it . :icon_scratch:

Painted mine with bolts in, removed bolts, installed brackets and accessories and torqued the bolts after reinstalling.
All before initial fire up. Won't hurt a thing.
I also use plastic sandwich bags over bolts and nuts that have been painted when tightening to help keep them looking good. It "takes up the lash" between fastener and socket/wrench and the tighter fit keeps from marring the paint.

Nice tip ! Thanks
