Well, it sold. Anyone know how much it went for?
Real nice car. It figures Mike had it at one time....he's probably owned nearly every nice 65 GS in California at one time or another!
That midnight blue has become a favorite of mine.

I'm not registered, and don't care to sign up and receive even more useless e-mail than I already receive!

Sorry guys, $58,000 and fees.

Thanks. That's good money for a 65. Exceptional car tho.

Have never seen a 65 GS sell for that much. Could be a record.

My old car went for 53 k , guy lied wasn't a nut and bolt frame off car either . Was very nice I figured 35 k tops what my convertible worth then
-
Chuck I agree with you. Hope it starts a much needed trend.

Someone better buy the one on eBay before it?s a six figure car. 🙂That?s the highest I?ve seen too.

I have always said that we are a bit hard on ourselves regarding the value of these cars. Their value is really beginning to take off. I have had two very informal inquiries at car shows about my car which suggested that the 65 GS is a car muscle car collectors want to have And are willing to pay for.
This price with fees goes well over 60k. This is important information for us to consider when we renew our insurance policies. Just think, $58,300, plus 10%, plus taxes on top of that. Total comes around 68,000.

Rob, $58,300 included the fees. Sold for $53,000 before fees. Still is a lot higher than past sales.

I agree. Still a good number. A friend and I bought a truck at Mecum Chicago last October and i noted that they apply the taxes to the amount that included the auction fees. So ultimately this person paid more than 60. I think this is great news for those of us who love our cars and believe them to be priceless.

Not to throw cold water on the exciting news, but this is an N of 1.
I think a couple more sales in that neighborhood would be a trend.
Or am I nuts?
Ok don't answer that.

Nice car; INSANE price. Record alcohol sales at the auction apparently.

There’s FREE alcohol to registered bidders at Barrett-Jackson.

58k is encouraging anyway . At least it covers what it costs to do all the chrome and stainless on one of these cars . :sad4:
-
You've got that right, John!! :BangHead:

It?s good and bad at the same time. Good that you have a shot at breaking even on a resto but bad in that the cost of entry can keep newcomers out.
