Aren't metal lasers great? I had these made up at a local sheet metal shop. They are 1" longer than the original (you can see my original laying on one in the left of the pic). The extra length gives a little more clutch travel, which anyone that has a manual car knows is an issue with the linkage design. I have a centerforce clutch in mine, and to get it adjusted to where it works properly, the release bearing is touching the pressure plate all the time. This fixes that issue. With USPS shipping in a small flat rate box, they are $27 each.
You may have to use a file to fine tune the fit of the holes at each end, but they are really close. Made from 5/16" thick steel just like the originals. One is going on my car and another is already spoken for, so I have 8 to sell.

Dear Brian, Loren, Dan, and mid-60s Buick owners happy to embrace high-tech to help with their restorations,
Aren't metal lasers great? I had these made up at a local sheet metal shop.
. . . .
Sorry that I can't take advantage of your creation but I definitely want to thank for taking the time to have them fabricated! :hello2: Computer controlled tools are really changing everything and we will hopefully get other benefits as parts we need fabricated can now be made without moving heaven and earth.
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

I can see where it will make the pedal pressure a little less tedious on the foot, but is my brain backwards again or would it actually lessen the available pedal adjustment? I still have the stock pressure plate and the pedal is adjusted OK for now but this would definitely make the pedal press easier. I just am not sure about MORE adjustment because the longer the upper throw the less movement the Z-bar would travel as far as full up-down pedal travel.
-
This piece goes on the lower half of the upper z-bar, so it definitely increases travel of the lower adjusting link, and will increase pedal force very slightly (not really noticable).
I will get them sent out to everyone as soon as I can--our power is still out here from the storm on Thurs, so I cant print the shipping labels til we have power. Tree fell across our road taking out a pole and the lines. Whole road is out, but we are likely low priority sine on a dead-end road!
-
No worries Brian. Hope you get your power back soon!

Ok,
My head is on it straight now....so this can be installed without even removing the upper Z-bar?
