Hello,
Its finally time to paint. Can someone provide an easy method to remove front fender moldings.
The fenders are still on the car. I think the molding is held in place with (3) nuts. I can get to the middle nut without problem (from under the hood).
Thanks,
Robert

If you mean the ventiports in the fenders I think you will have to remove the fender to get to the nuts.

Hi,
If you have a Gran Sport, Dan is correct, if you have a Skylark or Special Deluxe, the fender spears are die cast and believe there is 3 or 4 nuts that have to be removed.
You might be able to get them off by removing the inner fenders, either way you will need to remove the lower fender mounting bolts (2/side) to slip out the inners, also works for removing the heater core.

Thanks,
I was able to to do it.
I removed inner wheel wheel bolts and fender bolts nearest door hinges.
This allowed me just enough room to get behind it and remove the 3 nuts.
I will not be installing that way, I think I will use push in clips or double sided tape when I re install.
What have you guys done when re installing after paint?

Do you have a Skylark or a GS ? Have owned GS’s that had both push ins and double sided tape. Neither lasted very long.

Hi Robert, Dan is right, and I suggest that you not use clips or double sided tape. I tried that method on a skylark years ago and the tape became loose in the heat and the clips were never tight enough and the molding use to rattle, i finally had to put it back the factory way to keep my sanity..
Been there, done that... :cheers2:

Thanks for the info.
I will most likely put back the way I found them.
What a Pain in the A@@ to remove 3 nuts.

Hi Robert , Glad to hear that you are going ahead and painting the Skylark. Is Arctic White the original color ? Hope to see you at one of the LIBC meetings or at our Fall Friendship on November 4th. For further details contact me at my email address.

Tony,
Yes, Arctic white is the way the car came from the factory.
I'm hoping to have the Skylark at the painters next week.
Still in the process of removing trim and bumpers. I'll see you at one of the LIBC meetings soon.
