Title: Was a full GS-style vinyl top on option on the Skylark?

Could you order a '65 Skylark with a full Gran Sport-style vinyl top?

That was not a full vinyl top like came on a GS--it was just vinyl inside of the halo trim that is unique to only the 64 and 65 Skylark (non-GS) 2dr. cars.   Not sure about what was available on the Specials since they did not have the halo molding.

That's what I thought, but check out the Craigslist ad - it's a Skylark with full vinyl top  :dontknow:

This car has me confused! lol

Would that have been an aftermarket or "dealer installed" option on that Skylark in the CL add?

Since it appears to be the full roof like the GS and no halo trim.

The trim in question looks to be the trim used on 1965 GS's It was first used on the 1964 specials! ,either with a different top color or vinyl tops! I have taken three sets of this trim off of 1964 specials! I have only seen one 1965 Skylark with the vinyl top in the halo! It was correct with the numbers on the body tag and the owner had the dealer order! There are three possibilities on this car!? It would be nice to see the body trim tag! Possibilities would be #1 this looks to be a early car! ( special order factory installed?) #2 put on a later date with the vinyl top #3 put on by the dealership before car was delivered. I would not rule out any of these possibilities! A buddy of mine has a leopard skin top on his gto that was put on before it was delivered! So the key here would be some documentation! Owner history etc..
