Hello everyone, my name is Jeff Horsman from north Texas. I have always had a Buick since my first 67 GS400 that terrorized my high school parking lot. My most recent purchase was a flame red 66 four speed GS, car is very nice and I am excited to have this resource to help me with the car. I am a member of the V8 Buick forum which has been a great help as well since joining many years ago. For the past twenty plus years I have been tinkering with the 70 - 72 GS's so I have a ton to learn about the 66 and the nail head engine. Please excuse my dumb questions if I ask one, I am very picky about my cars and hope to bring this 66 as close to original as possible. There will be a parts wanted ad in the near future, I appreciate all the advice and help.

V-8 Buick is a useful resource, but has a later model Buick muscle car bias. It also suffers a bit from being overcrowded. It is difficult to "be heard" over there. All those extra people are helpful sometimes for locating parts though.
IPlease excuse my dumb questions if I ask one . . . .
About the only dumb questions I ever hear happen at car shows when someone walks over to my Buick and asks: "is it a Chevy?" . . . . :laughing7:

Thanks for sharing the photo! I would recommend that you photograph your car frequently as you make changes so that you document how the car progresses. Definitely don't hesitate sharing those "work in progress" photos. We all like our cars to look their best, but we all learn about the process we go through to improve our cars and photographs are indeed better than a thousand words!

P.S. We are open minded on this forum, but I also prefer to have my car at the correct height and with Buick wheels. I'll definitely want to see how your car turns out when that work is completed!

That's a great looking car Jeff! Hope you get it fixed up the way you want it soon.
I believe that the full wheel cover with center "spinner" was standard on all Skylarks, including the GS, and that only the Special had basic dog dish caps. But I could be wrong and there are others that can chime in and give a more definitive answer.
Attached is a picture of a parts car with what I believe to be standard GS wheel covers on black steel wheels.

Curious what those hubcaps might look like. I think the correct Buick Rallye is the JK coded ones...correct? Do you have any of those by chance as well?

They weren?t bad looking for hubcaps, I just prefer Cragars on mine and also 15? wheels.

If I find some correct steel wheels, I would consider those caps. By chance do you have a nice set of those you could part with.

I still favor the 15x7 Buick mags and 60 series tires.
Here's a pic of my red 66 when I purchased it in 1996 with original wheel covers. And another pic from 2009 with the rallys and replacement stock springs I mentioned (6033 front, 6192 rear)
