Title: Aluminum Front Drums GM A-body?
Post by: jmos4 on May 05, 2018, 01:32:39 PM
Hi all,

Found a set of what appear to be A-Body Front Drums, they have the hubs with a 4 3/4 bolt circle. Was told they might be from a 66 Lemans?

Wondering more info so here is a list of questions.

What years were they offered as a option?

Are they a direct replacement for cast iron ones?

Any years they won't interchange with?

I got them hoping to put them on my 65 Skylark.

Also see they are remaking Al reardrums.

Regards,

Jim,

I picked up a set a while back as well in Bowling Green. Mine were supposed to be from a 70 GS. I know Pontiac used them on many models through the 60's and into the early 70's. Yes, they should fit, Mine did. I currently do not currently have them on the car because they are over spec and need to have new steel liners put in them. There is a specialty shop near Kenosa WIS that does it. They get about $600.00 exchange. Last time I checked they had a set on the shelf.

Buick used the aluminum drums on the 67-69 sport wagons and on the 67-70 GS cars! Pontiac used them from 66-69 I believe!? The fins and shape are different from Buick to Pontiac!  J&g relining out of McHenry IL also does them! 815-276-2578.
