Ready to paint my black dash and other interior parts. What is the correct amount of flat to mix? I have been told 60/40 and 70/30 by some local" experts". I bought PPG urethane, reducer, flat agent and hardner( like 200 bucks worth!!) and need to know the right mix as it is too expensive for trial & error. I am going to do the inner fenders, core support etc at the same time, is the same sheen correct on the under hood stuff as the interior? Thanks for any input, I need all the help I can get!

Spray a test piece of metal similar to the finish of your target material.
It will not take much material or time, and will help you adjust your spray equipment and product.

The 'black' dash on the 65 is actually a dark metallic gray. The old Dupont Lucite was #9174-LH. Someone here should have a code for modern paint. Just kill the gloss a little, about a 90% gloss.
It's tough to tell you how to mix your underhood paint without using those exact materials. I have some powdercoat samples here, a 15-30% sample, 35-55% sample and a 50-70% sample..... that's quite a range on one sample. The midrange looks about right, which would be about 50% gloss. Nice originals I've seen are rather glossy, up to a 70% gloss might be acceptable. I think most restorations tend to over flatten the finish.
My original 65 (one car) and 66 firewalls (half dozen) have been dead flat black with one exception that had more gloss.
There's going to be variations even on untouched originals, it wasn't a tight spec.

Metallic gray for white interior cars ,black for black interior cars! There are variations of the paint due to different paint suppliers , different from plant to plant, fading , age etc.! Fresh paint say will have more shine or gloss as opposed to 50 year old paint with age ,ware, etc., factored in!
