I'm looking for sheet metal, like the trunk rail and miscellaneous stuff. Are these only available from wrecking yards?
Thanks.

Welcome back George! :hello:
Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but it is nice to see you back on the board again!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

I'm not sure what you mean by " trunk rail ". It is getting more and more difficult to find '65s in a salvage yard. As for trunk pieces, the floor is available as a whole piece with braces and also as a kit in three sections or separate pieces. The braces and mounts are also available as individual pieces. The areas where the weather strip attaches, is not available with the exception of the panel between the trunk lid and the rear window.

I already did the trunk pan.
I need the actual rail/channel at the back of the trunk, near the latch.

This might be one of times when one picture would explain everything. Are you referring to the trunk seal channel?

Hi George, I don't know of anyone that reproduces that channel. You will need to get a good used one and weld it in. I had the same type of rot on my 65GS project and i was able to get a good right side three years ago from Mark in TX, but he recently retired and crushed whatever he had in his yard. I would give Desert Valley Auto Parts in AZ a call (800-905-8024) and see what they have to offer and how much it could cost. You can give James Kehr in PA a call too (215-767-0845) he covers 1959-66 Buick's . Also there are other scrapyards throughout the country, just look in Hemmings Motor News and check out there inventory on the web or just call them. If you run into a dead end I'm sure one of us could come up with something. Let us know..

The side pieces are reproduced but I don't see a center/rear section. You can try searching for a repo tail panel for GTO or Chevelle, maybe you can use the channel from those.

Wow- DVAP pricing is really high--
1. Full channel all the way around $475
2. Just the rear section $250
Geez, wasn't expecting that.
Thinking I may part this thing out after all. The trunk rails are pretty rusted, it would take a lot of work to try and restore them.
Anyone need a rolling chassis and body with 90% of the parts?

I have a piece about 51 inches long that goes from taillight brace to brace! If this would help? Shipping would be oversized also! It is rusty below the body peak line! Let me know if you are interested!

Hi George, The part that gssizzler offered you looks good. You would just need the channel near the back window since they repro the sides. Like Walt said try the aftermarket companies that supply other GM A Bodies. If not what about looking into getting the channel from a larger series GM vehicle. You would have to take photos & measurements and visit a scrapyard and see if it would workout.
Just throwing out some ideas, would hate to see a decent Skylark (GS ? ) being parted out.
