Title: Gorgeous woody teardrop trailer with matching rowboat!
Post by: elagache on March 31, 2018, 01:56:37 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick fans with an eye to beauty,

Okay, completely off topic, but it is an example of such wonderful woodworking that it deserves a peek.  Someone is selling a custom made 2000 woody teardrop trailer with a matching wood rowboat that mounts on the top:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/One-of-a-kind-custom-woody-teardrop-trailer-with-matching-boat/282906777756 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/One-of-a-kind-custom-woody-teardrop-trailer-with-matching-boat/282906777756)

Here is a photo from the eBay listing:

The workmanship and artistry is amazing!  It is the sort of thing that I would expect could find it's way into a museum!

Enjoy!  :icon_thumright:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Someone put some nice work in there!
Thing is, if you bring along a lady friend, what does she do when she needs a tinkle in the night? It's easy for us guys.
Title: Teardrops have their limitations (Re: Gorgeous woody teardrop trailer)

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick owners with a taste for adventure,

Someone put some nice work in there!

It really is a work of art.  It would be a crime to actually use it in some grungy camp ground.

Thing is, if you bring along a lady friend, what does she do when she needs a tinkle in the night? It's easy for us guys.

That's just one of the reasons I'm aiming for a larger Airstream trailer.  Teardrops are basically a bedroom with outside kitchen.  So if the weather turns bad, you can't cook or eat.   Even as a bedroom there is one obvious problem - no place to change your clothes!  Most serious teardrop trailers at least provide a tent in front of the doors where you can stand.  That way you have some privacy while getting in and out your adventure clothing.

Still, these trailers started out in the 1930s and are still popular to this day.  In places like California, there are perfectly suitable for the summer at parks with public restrooms.  Sure that something of a compromise, but the difference in cost between these little trailers and something with an inside bathroom and kitchen is more than enough to get some people to make the compromise!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Title: Another nicely crafted trailer (Re: Woody teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on April 06, 2018, 04:18:08 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick owners with an itch to pull something behind your Buick,

Something is attracting woody teardrop trailers out of the woodwork and onto eBay.  Here is another one.  It isn't nearly as nice as the first, but it is still very well crafted:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-Custom-Woodie-Teardrop-Travel-Trailer-built-like-32-34-Ford-Woodie/112915451852 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-Custom-Woodie-Teardrop-Travel-Trailer-built-like-32-34-Ford-Woodie/112915451852)

Here is a photo as a teaser:

I'm sorry to see people placing such finely crafted trailers on eBay.  To sell something like this, an ad in Hemming's and a lot of patience is far more likely to end up locating a buyer who understands the quality of what they are purchasing.

Oh well, . . . . Edouard

Many people seem to use eBay as a place to advertise and if it sells while listed that’s a plus.

I would not mind traveling the USA in something like that. That's real nice work and old school. Definitely on my bucket list. Have any of you done a big road trip in something similar?
Title: Teardrops having a revival - but still very small! (Re: Teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on April 07, 2018, 11:27:22 AM
Dear Ronnie and mid-60s Buick owners with road trip aspirations,

I would not mind traveling the USA in something like that. That's real nice work and old school. Definitely on my bucket list.

In the 1990s I first ran into teardrop trailers when I learned about a rally near San Diego where I was living at the time.  I have to admit I kind of fell in love with them.  They are so cute and really practical in their use of space.   They are definitely having another revival right now.  There is a free online magazine devoted to teardrop trailers:

https://www.cooltears.com/ (https://www.cooltears.com/)

Teardrop trailers have another intriguing aspect they are within range of building your own if you have a modest DIY skillset.  The parts to complete your trailer are increasingly available.  For example here is one vendor who claims to be the largest supplier of teardrop trailer parts:

https://www.teardroptrailerparts.com/ (https://www.teardroptrailerparts.com/)

There are also a large number of outfits making teardrop trailers.  You can get a sense of what is out there by keeping an eye on eBay teardrop trailers for sale.   This link might get you a listing:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=50060&_nkw=teardrop&_dmpt=RVs_Campers (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=50060&_nkw=teardrop&_dmpt=RVs_Campers)

Have any of you done a big road trip in something similar?

As Iain pointed out, these trailers just aren't that practical especially for a longer trip.  I've never had one but I've used my wagon as a "bedroom," and it is plenty rough.  I have used my wagon for both camping to reach dark skies for amateur astronomy and after scuba diving trips.  Once I did both.  Here are two pictures I took the morning after.

(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Biquette-as-RV-after-scuba-and-astronomy/i-JBb5Zgh/0/6895d30b/XL/Biquette%20as%20Fremont%20Peak%20RV%20%281%29-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Biquette-as-RV-after-scuba-and-astronomy/i-JBb5Zgh/A)

My telescope is at the extreme left.  I put my sleeping bag on the roof!  The next picture is a close up of the picnic table:

(https://photos.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Biquette-as-RV-after-scuba-and-astronomy/i-vW3v6rH/0/918fd4c3/XL/Biquette%20as%20Fremont%20Peak%20RV-XL.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/Biquette/Photos-of-Biquette/Biquette-as-RV-after-scuba-and-astronomy/i-vW3v6rH/A)

You can see the scuba tanks underneath.  There is an ice chest on the seat.  The yellow-orange thing is a propane camp stove and on the right is a plastic tub with my wet-suit.  This is the mess generated after just 1 night for 1 person!

If I won the lottery, in addition to my vintage Airstream, I would build myself a custom teardrop trailer and get myself a 1965 GS convertible to pull it.  However, these little trailers aren't aren't suited for much more than a quick weekend trip.  If you want to cruise the country, you need a trailer where you can sleep, cook, and eat inside.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Thanks for the tip about needing a bigger trailer to do a cross country run, your right but the teardrop is still cool in book and can see myself using one for small runs. Here is a cool picture.

Dear Ronnie, Dan, and mid-60s Buick owners with an itch for road trips,

Thanks for the tip about needing a bigger trailer to do a cross country run, your right but the teardrop is still cool in book and can see myself using one for small runs. Here is a cool picture.

In a perfect world I would like to have both a large cross-country trailer and a teardrop.  Certainly in California and other regions with dry summers you can put a teardrop to good use.  I've done enough tent camping that it doesn't feel too much of a imposition to use a teardrop.  It is neither here nor there, but I'm happy that they are still popular.  Certainly one of the reasons for their comeback is as a hot rod or classic car accessory.

Thanks for sharing the picture!  There have been some really bizarre travel trailers over the years.  Eventually sounder engineering prevailed!

The trailer sold. $8,000.    Dan

The second and less ornate trailer sold but not the first.  I'm glad at least one of these trailers found a home.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

P.S. There is a 1957 Sportsmen Serro Scotty trailer listed on eBay right now:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Sportsman-Serro-Scotty-Retro-Vintage-Travel-Trailer/263598663408? (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Sportsman-Serro-Scotty-Retro-Vintage-Travel-Trailer/263598663408?)

The seller apparently didn't realize this is also a teardrop trailer so it was listed only as vintage trailer!  This is an example of aircraft construction technology (like Airstreams) being applied to teardrops.  Definitely a lot of design and engineering went into travel trailers over the decades.
Title: Re: Another compromise: 1952 Nomad (Re: Teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on April 14, 2018, 11:11:19 AM
Dear mid-60s Buick owners with an "itch" for road trips,

I've been looking at vintage trailers for years, but continue to stumble into unexpected designs.  Here is a 1952 Nomad teardrop:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-Nomad-tear-drop-trailer/292523723098 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-Nomad-tear-drop-trailer/292523723098)

There is even a video made by the owner with this trailer and a 1961 Impala station wagon.

https://youtu.be/VAwSEWYBzCY (https://youtu.be/VAwSEWYBzCY)

This one is just big enough that you can change inside.  That's a big improvement over the classic teardrop design and it isn't so complicated that it couldn't be built in a garage if you have the skills and tools.  Recreational vehicles aren't an obvious place to look for human ingenuity, but over the years, people have tried every combination they could manage to squeeze a little more functionality out of what amount to incredibly tiny houses.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Dear mid-60s Buick owners with an appreciation of quality woodwork,

There is another woody teardrop trailer on eBay right now.  This one comes with a matching 1929 Ford Model-A Woodie:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Woodie-Vintage-Teardrop-Camper-Trailer-w-Matching-1929-Ford-Model-A-Woodie/323387208001 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Woodie-Vintage-Teardrop-Camper-Trailer-w-Matching-1929-Ford-Model-A-Woodie/323387208001)

These things decorated to absurdity by my tastes, but even so, they make for a cute pair.

Enjoy!

Title: Two really pretty "silver trailers" on eBay (Was: Teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on January 06, 2019, 06:45:40 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick owners who have that "itch" to tow something vintage,

I've been so swamped by the "holidaze" that gave up on eBay for most of December.  This afternoon I had a bit of time and finally did some daydreaming on the eBay Airstream listings.  There are two trailers that really fun to look at simply because of the pictures.  The first is a 1963 Silver Streak:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Silver-Streak-Airstream-Rival-22-Guest-House-Air-B-B/323638105174 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Silver-Streak-Airstream-Rival-22-Guest-House-Air-B-B/323638105174)

It was part of a classic car museum and was kept indoors like this!

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/T9oAAOSwvO5buAt2/s-l1600.jpg) (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Silver-Streak-Airstream-Rival-22-Guest-House-Air-B-B/323638105174)

The other is a 1973 23' Airstream Safari that has also been recently restored:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Airstream-Trailer/303020848838 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Airstream-Trailer/303020848838)

This seller was clever and took the trailer to a beach front to take some really amazing pictures against the sunset.  Here is just one:

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/S34AAOSweMdb~tAz/s-l1600.jpg) (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Airstream-Trailer/303020848838)

So if you need a pick-me-up from the winter weather this sort of "window shopping" is most definitely free!

Enjoy!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Edouard  Those Airstreams are really cool, someone in my area has a really big Airstream that gets pulled by a GMC Suburban  4X4. We not the camping type, but i do like the style.
If i came home with the woody wagon & the trailer my wife Karen would have no problem burying me in that casket mounted on the trailer   :argue: !!

Big SUVs and pickup trucks have given a new lease on life to the large travel trailer.  Still back in the 1960s,  station wagons got call to tow these sorts of trailers.  As you can see from the other trailer in my posting, I'm trying to keep an open mind.  Still, I can't seem to convince myself to take seriously anything but an Airstream.  They have such beautiful lines that none of their rivals can really hold a candle too.

We not the camping type, but i do like the style.

Dear 65GS.com faithful,

I'm sure everyone is getting busy as the 4th approaches, but I'm sure we all can use a quick pick-me-up.  There is another teardrop trailer on eBay with some very nice carpentry:

They managed to take a photo of it with a vintage truck in front:

Hi Edouard& members, I'm just trying to play "catch up" I was not on much the month of June, very busy with the Kids and the local Buick Chapter. My 3 boys graduated from middle school and my Daughter graduated from HS so Karen & I have been busy at the schools helping out when needed, plus my local Buick Chapter had several events during June also.
Looking at the truck & trailer reminded me of another vintage item that You or some of the other members may remember from  1964-65. On June 29th 20+ members from the Long Island Chapter BCA toured  Flushing Meadow park here in Queens NYC, This is where the 1964-65 NY Worlds Fair was held, (yes I was there) and there are still plenty of buildings and artifacts left to take up most of a beautiful clear dry Saturday. Before I left at 5:30PM  I took this photo to share with everyone that was there, or wished they were there way back in 64-65.   "Peace Thru Understanding" was the motto of the Fair.

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers with "glamping" aspirations.

On eBay right now are two really cute travel trailers.  The first is a 1952 Bost teardrop trailer:

Here is a picture of it:

It had a frame off restoration in 2014 and is amazing!

The other is a 1967 Serro Scotty Sportsman with a new exterior "skin" of aluminum:

Here is a picture of that trailer:

I can't honestly say I would want to own either trailer, but I think you'all agree - they sure are cute!!

Looks like the "Predator" looking in on the first one LOL...

Mom, sis and I were at the '64 worlds fair. Sis had a chalk cameo portrait done and I did a spinning art thing with colored drops of paint spinning a spider web/ exploding star looking paint job. Took a long grueling train trip to NYC from Chicago on the NYC and did chinatown, empire state bldg, and the statue of liberty. Stayed at the Central Park West Hotel. Alas, all on slides! Next time the projector comes out Ill grab a ton of pics! Life was sooo simple back then! Even for the "then" generation.  Bill

Hi Edouard & Bill, Those trailers are cute but I do like the Airstreams. There is one here in my area hooked up to a 4 X 4 Dodge truck and it's never parked in the same spot, so I guess they use it on the weekends & holidays in the summer.
I"m glad you had fond memories of the fair Bill, It was a big event for us baby boomers, Unfortunately the younger generations could not experience the wonder of it all. I was only 5 at the time, but it made such an impression on me.  I clearly remember the science & automotive related pavilions and credit those visits to my lifelong love of science and how things work. If you ever get those pic's please share them with us,  It's always good to look back at a simpler time in our life....

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who enjoy "eye candy,"

I came across this unusual specimen doing my usual eBay rounds, in this case the teardrop trailers category.  It is a 1953 Kompak Sportsman camper trailer:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Kompak-Sportsman-camper-trailer/284005966864 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1953-Kompak-Sportsman-camper-trailer/284005966864)

It is another trailer that stores a boat on the roof, but this one is made of fiberglass.  Here is a picture from the ad:

What it lacks in terms of classy woodwork, it certainly makes up for in practicality.  Honestly not my cup of tea, but it is cute in a homey kind of way.

Something to make you smile when you are finished working on your Buick for the day!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who also appreciate fine woodwork,

There is another one of those really cute wood teardrop trailers on eBay:

Okay, the more I look at these things the more impractical they turn out to be.  Nonetheless, you've gotta admit - they sure are cute!

Title: Airstream trailer for sale - really? (Re: . . . teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on August 13, 2022, 05:23:38 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who like pretty photos,

My search for a vintage travel trailer is mostly in window shopping mode, but of course eBay is tops when it comes to vintage window shopping.  Today I came across this ad for a 2005 Airstream trailer which it was claimed was remodeled in a vintage style.  Here is the link to the ad:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/394200317192 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/394200317192)

Now this isn't my cup of tea either, but this fellow seems more interested in showing off his photographic skills than selling his trailer.  Here is the first photo of the ad:

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/xjIAAOSwV3li9YES/s-l1600.jpg) (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/xjIAAOSwV3li9YES/s-l1600.jpg)

Here is a cute romantic scene of the trailer under snow:

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/BTsAAOSwdcxi9X3a/s-l1600.jpg) (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/BTsAAOSwdcxi9X3a/s-l1600.jpg)

Finally this photo of the trailer at either dusk or dawn is really striking:

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/o74AAOSw3aNi9XY1/s-l1600.jpg) (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/o74AAOSw3aNi9XY1/s-l1600.jpg)

Maybe the fellow should stop trying to sell his trailer and instead open up a professional photograph studio!  :laughing7:

Dear Good Dr. and mid-60s Buick caregivers with road-trip inclinations, . . . .

Edouard, What is the one you picture beside you and behind the wagon?

Actually, what I'm dreaming of would be bit bigger and a lot older.  What I like the best is the 24 foot Tradewind trailers from 1965 to 68 or so.  These trailers are light enough for my trusty wagon to tow and there are significant advantages to twin-axle trailers.  There is a beautifully restored 1967 Tradewind still for sale by Blueberry Hill classics:

https://blueberryhillclassics.com/1967-airstream-jet-set-judy (https://blueberryhillclassics.com/1967-airstream-jet-set-judy)

Here is a photo from the ad:

However as long as I am greedy, I would also look carefully into a modernized floor plan.  A lot of thought has gone into how you organize the space in these trailers since the mid-60s and my goal is to use the trailer - not preserve it as a museum piece.

However, for now I'm still window shopping.  The world of RVing has been dramatically changed by COVID and it is going to take a while for things to calm down once more.

Cheers, Edouard

I hear you.  Supply side issues have prices high and trailers scarce. I also think more people thought camping would be a good thing to try during COVID. We could get twice what we paid for our used RV right now, but then what would we take out there? We went to Shenandoah last year for a week and every site was filled all week.

There is a guy that modernized an older Airstream himself on line. He spent $53,000 (including $13,000 for the trailer) doing all the work himself and it took several years. There does not seem to be a cost effective way to own one of these.
Title: From Hagerty's: restoring a canned ham. (Re: Teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on October 05, 2022, 02:13:29 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who daydream about road-trips,

The classic car press seems to be running short of material.  This morning Hagerty's ran this curious piece about a fellow restoring one of those tiny so-called "canned ham" travel trailers:

https://www.hagerty.com/media/people/michigan-mans-dilapidated-1956-little-gem-camper-is-restoration-possible/ (https://www.hagerty.com/media/people/michigan-mans-dilapidated-1956-little-gem-camper-is-restoration-possible/)

It is mostly one of those "restorer's profile" pieces, but scanning through it might be worth a quick smile.

Cheers, Edouard
Title: 1947 teardrop trailer eye-candy. (Re: teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on October 18, 2022, 03:35:26 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers with a itch for road trips,

Someone has done a decent job of refurbishing a 1947 teardrop trailer that's for sale on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/125564338691 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/125564338691)

This trailer is made of aluminum panels like an Airstream trailer, so it has a very different look.  Nonetheless, this trailer looks vintage.  Here is a photo from the ad including a vintage car to complete the look:

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/u6YAAOSwEjtjSx1Q/s-l1600.jpg) (https://www.ebay.com/itm/125564338691)

Even if you have absolutely zero interest in such trailers, I think everyone can enjoy the eye-candy of looking at a bit of nostalgic automotive-related memorabilia.

Cheers, Edouard

Edouard,

Interesting and nicely done restoration (?) or build on the trailer.  Like the storage ideas.

And looking at the car begs the question of how it's finished.  Looks like it was stripped, scuffed and cleared with no paint to provide a similar look to the aluminum trailer.  Maybe he'll paint the car after selling the trailer??

Thanks for sharing!

Title: Vintage Airstream eye-candy. (Re: Woody teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on April 16, 2023, 03:45:02 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers with road-trip aspirations,

Once a day I do my eBay window shopping for Buick parts and vintage trailers.  This afternoon there is a 1965 Airstream Caravel for sale:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/354723209213 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/354723209213)

Of course it would be hard to post something even more off-topic than this, but the ad features a photo of the trailer parked in Yosemite:

It is such a pretty picture that I couldn't resist sharing.

Enjoy!

That is a beautiful picture Edouard! But, since when did they move Yosemite to Yuma, Arizona? Or is that where its being sold from?

Thanks for sharing!

Title: Restored 1935 Bowlus Road Chief. (Re: Gorgeous woody teardrop trailer)
Post by: elagache on May 12, 2023, 05:02:12 PM
Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Okay, this is the usual off-topic, but it is just a pretty 88 year old trailer that has been beautifully restored.  On eBay is for sale a 1935 Bowlus Road Chief which are the trailers that came before Airstream.  Here is the link:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/185892498045 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/185892498045)

Here is one picture as a teaser:

It is just a beautiful example of a unique machine that has received a top-notch restoration.

Enjoy the eye-candy!

Hi Edouard, I just returned on line, our old PC computer died a little over a week ago and we were busy with the kids and did not get a chance to shop for a new computer until Saturday. Nina & Steven set it up it yesterday evening, So far it's working well. It does not have a disc drive or a a port to slide in my camera card but they will work on that this week.
I really like the photo of the Bowlus Road Chief. I had never seen one before. The owners must be retired because who would have the time to polish all of that stainless steel  ?

Dear Tony and mid-60s Buick caregivers with road-trip inclinations,

Hi Edouard, I just returned on line, our old PC computer died a little over a week ago and we were busy with the kids and did not get a chance to shop for a new computer until Saturday. Nina & Steven set it up it yesterday evening, So far it's working well. It does not have a disc drive or a a port to slide in my camera card but they will work on that this week.

Sorry about the computer hassles.  You can't live with one and you can't live without one.

I really like the photo of the Bowlus Road Chief. I had never seen one before. The owners must be retired because who would have the time to polish all of that stainless steel  ?

I'm sure polishing the aluminum was part of the restoration.  This trailer was clearly restored to be shown and having it highly polished was part of the appearance.  The trailer was probably part of a private collection and either will end up in a museum or in the hands of another collector.  Nobody would actually use an 88 year old trailer for camping.

Cheers, Edouard
Title: More eye-candy. (Re: Gorgeous woody teardrop trailer)

Dear mid-60s Buick caregivers who at least enjoy day-dreaming about road-tripping,

This is of course completely off-topic, but there is a 1958 woody teardrop trailer on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/186360923011 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/186360923011)

Here is one of the photos from the ad:

(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/9nUAAOSwRU9mAIZJ/s-l1600.jpg) (https://www.ebay.com/itm/186360923011)

According to the seller, the trailer was fully restored about 15 years ago at a cost of around $30,000!

Like all teardrop trailers, it isn't very practical.  However, it is definitely an example of beautiful wood workmanship!

Enjoy the eye-candy!

Dear mid-60s caregivers who enjoy a little road-trip daydreaming,

On my weekly shopping run I spotted a rare trailer indeed:

(https://photos.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Miscellaneous-car-photos/American-Dream-tiny-trailer-and-boat/i-8Z4Wmqg/0/NgntrS8n5zrDhKKnDtWTmfbHMfXjkp5qM4DFS27pG/L/Boat%20tiny-trailer%20combo%20-%20side-L.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Miscellaneous-car-photos/American-Dream-tiny-trailer-and-boat/i-8Z4Wmqg/A)

Definitely a more pragmatic model made of fiberglass instead of wood, but definitely sufficient for both camping and boating.

These trailers are still being made by an outfit in Portland, Oregon:

https://americandreamtrailers.com/ (https://americandreamtrailers.com/)

Here is one more photo, this time of the back:

(https://photos.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Miscellaneous-car-photos/American-Dream-tiny-trailer-and-boat/i-ctSGRgG/0/Kb9k8Sg3CFKzKZF9kQ3px8MMwwTzsN4G9tCSfd9kD/L/Boat%20tiny-trailer%20combo%20-%20back-L.jpg) (https://canebas.smugmug.com/ClassicandCustomAutomobiles/Miscellaneous-car-photos/American-Dream-tiny-trailer-and-boat/i-ctSGRgG/A)

Sure, . . . this is about as off-topic as can be and still related to things which have the rubber meeting the road.  However, after all, variety is the spice of life!

Very cool, there are a few setups like that on the Power Tour every year. One neat one is a 58 Chevy wagon pulling a trailer with a front engine dragster. Lots of period correct stuff there!

Wow, thanks for posting those photos. The BAMPER looks really nice for a trip to the local lake for the day. And maybe a little Bass fishing too. Is the BAMPER vintage or is it currently being produced ?

Dear Loren, Jim, Tony, and mid-60s caregivers with a taste for road-trip comfort,

I'm glad you all enjoyed.  It is a little eye-candy that adds some spice to visiting the 65GS.com forum.

Is the BAMPER vintage or is it currently being produced ?

I suppose the most complete answer is - YES!  It definitely has a retro look and it is indeed still in production by an outfit near Portland, Oregon.  Here is the corporate website:

Here is a photo from the company website:

It certainly would be a practical, if austere, fishing rig for those fishing expeditions far away from civilization.
