My brother is in the process of unearthing a 66 GS from its long term storage. I will have to look it over good when he gets it home in a few weeks. It also comes with a 66 Impala SS.

Looks to be in pretty nice shape. And it has a Quadrajet carb? Was that standard in '66?
:cheers2:
Chuck
-
No, not standard so probably put there.
-
Wow, always good to see another GS come out of hiding. Especially a 66!
The Q-jet was avail on the '66 Skylark GS as part of the optional 340 hp 401 package that became available in Feb-March 1966.
This car has a January build date so it's too early to have that package.
Jim is your brother buying it?
And that Impala.... one of my best friends started a club for the 65-66 full size Chevys. Club is still going strong after a few decades.
Mark is a fan of those as well.
Hope to see more pics of that 66 in the coming weeks!

Dear Jim, Chuck, Walt, and mid-60s Buick (especially GS) lovers, . . . :love4:

(http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink_smile_triangle.gif) . . . . I dunno' about this one . . . . I've heard: "So do ya' fries with that?" but I've never heard: "So do ya' want a 66 Impala SS with that?" . . . . . . Yes Walt, both cars are already bought, just hard to get to with our weather.
-
Very nice and very clean. Must be a story here somewhere. It’s ok to post Chevy pictures here.

Dear Kevin and mid-60s Buick owners with d'em wintertime blues . . . .
It’s ok to post Chevy pictures here.
(http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink_smile_triangle.gif) . . . . That Sir! Is a matter of opinion!! . . . . . (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/Laughing_LOL.gif)
Just in case there are any doubts . . . . . and of course in the voice that preeminent loud-mouth Foghorn Leghorn . . . .
"That's a joke son - gag that is!"
When it comes to classic cars pics I'm not very picky, but Chevy is most definitely not my first choice. Although it always beats Ford! . . . :laughing7:

The GS is now at my brothers place an is running. Appears to only have 33,000 miles on it. I need to go look at it as soon as I can get over there. Has Qjet on it with original parts in the trunk. Brother says no rust. Tilt wheel seems to be one of the few options.
-
Keep us posted Jim. This sounds like a fun project!
A great weekend to all!
:cheers2:
Chuck

He sent me this picture yesterday.

(http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink_smile_triangle.gif) . . . . Hmm, very serious, . . . . This engine was suffering from a very serious mineral deficiently . . . . . It definitely wasn't getting enough CHROME!!! . . . . . . :sunny: . . . . Sigh, I bought a 66 GS vert around Thanksgiving. Brought it home, wrapped it in tarps for the coming rains, and today it's still sitting on the trailer with a foot of snow on it! C'mon Spring!!!
-
I will be looking at the car by Saturday and hopefully making a deal.
-
It sure cleaned up nice!
Good luck with the purchase, your brother better give you a great deal!

Wow, Jim. I thought that was going to be your brother's car. Art thou coveting thy brother's Howitzer??? :laughing7:
:cheers2:

He?s a flipper, keeping this one off CL until I get to look at it. If I pass I will give him some leads for buyers!
-
Hey Jim, may have an interest if you don't.
-
maybe he'd like a nice Green 71 GS instead of that crusty old 66 :)
-
I?m passing on the car, let me know if anyone wants info. It is very nice underneath, the undercoating did it?s job. Needs paint, would look great in original Seafoam green! Trunk, floors, frame, rocker panels, quarters, etc. all very, very nice. Auto on column, numbers matching motor, tilt wheel, non posi, needs headliner, interior needs smell eradicated.
-
This is what it would look like finished! I do like that color.
-
my first 66 GS was a Seafoam green post car with black bench seat interior. man i miss that car.
-
Any pictures of it Bob?
-
no, that was back in the mid 80's when film was required for pictures and i bought beer instead.. it was painted blue by the guy i sold it to and then sold again. the car was restored and currently lives in Texas from what i heard. I bought it from a Church that bought the car new and it was used to tow a small trailer around for mobile preaching. it was a very fast car for being bone stock.

Nice car.
Pass, but thanks anyway Jim.
-
It really is nice underneath but the paint looks better in pictures than in person.
-
Looks like the car is on the way to a new owner in Germany.
