Title: Rebuilt 401??? in Northern MI
Post by: JimL65 on February 24, 2018, 07:19:52 AM
Saw this on craigslist, Just doesn't seem right. The valve covers alone would be worth $300.00 or more
I wish I could find something like this in my backyard!!

Interesting !
might be a rattle can rebuild . Never seen a engine rebuilt with NO head bolts . ( must be pretty low compression )    :laughing7:

Spray paint on the timing chain and in lifter valley doesn't make me feel good about the build quality..

That is in my garage now guys....It is NOT a 65,and it is a quality rebuild as far as machining, but the original owner built it for a Riviera project and it never got completed. It is now listed on here in Parts for Sale because I was told that it was an original GS motor, but it is not. It is a 63 block and crank as verified by Loren, and you would have to either change the crank or use an adapter for a newer trans. I have some extra pieces if someone wants to build it. I think I may even have a good 65 crank core. The block itself is the same from 62-66,but there are more crankshaft differences than I was aware of.

Oops! sorry 'bout that. But it's good to know the painter didn't build it.
