Wanted !
In search of some manual clutch parts for a '65 GS. I have outlined the parts I need to put the GS post car back to a manual transmission .
Almost forgot, someone [not me] decided to cut the clutch pedal off. So I will need a clutch pedal also.
Thanks for looking,
Loren
-
Loren , did you still need the part that welded to the frame ? I found the one here i have off Jims old car .
Do you have a bell housing ?
I,ll do some checking , I may have a couple extra pieces here .
-
Got the bell housing with the clutch release shaft and yolk coming from Chuck. Got the bracket assembly that welds to the frame from Pat G.
Pat also had the outer lever assembly that goes through the bracket, but not the inner lever that bolts to the outer piece. He had the throw out bearing with the retainer clip and the bracket that bolts to the frame on the inside.
So, I need the equalizer shaft, the ball stud that bolts to the frame bracket, the release rod assembly, the rod that goes from the pedal to the " Z " bar and the inner lever. I'm not sure about the ball stud on the bell housing end, will have to check with Chuck and see if it is still attached to the clutch release shaft.
The inner lever could be copied from an original fairly easy, at least I think it could be.
Along with that , some one cut the clutch pedal off at some time. I'm not sure if the aftermarket stuff being sold would work if I cut and welded it to the original part. Just kicking around an idea. Of course, an original would be great, but I'm already hunting for hen's teeth with the other parts. lol

Loren , keep me informed on the parts you get from Chuck . I may have the ball stud and lever the bolts to the clutch throw out bearing shaft .
And yes I think the Z bar inner lever could be made fairly easy . Mine is out getting grey phosphated right now or I would take a crack at making one . Maybe when mine comes back .

I will keep you up to date on the progress of the hunt.
If you would be interested in attempting a copy, that would make for one less part to find.
Thanks John,

I'll check today on the clutch release lever. Pretty sure it has the ball stud on it, but I'll confirm.
Chuck

Yes, I do have the ball stud and lever that attach to the throw out bearing shaft.

The rod from the clutch pedal to the upper Z-bar can be made by shortening one from a regular Special/Skylark. Cut approximately 1" out of it and weld it back together. The rod for a Special/Skylark is much easier to find.
-
I bought one of those rods aftermarket that was the correct length and I only had to make one end 3/8 rather than 5/16. I did it for a setup that was used on a 66 and it worked great. I am just trying to remember what it was originally for ....68-72 or possibly early camaro...I will do some more digging on this subject.

Loren,
Since my car is a 1964 and I went with the Hydraulic clutch rather than trying to get the GS clutch release linkage (I lacked a couple of parts) to work, I still have a good bit of parts.
Let me know what you still need and I will look tonight and see what I have and get it on the way to you.
I used the clutch/brake pedal, but when I did my '64 Special in 1978, I used all the parts from a 1965 F-85, and they are the same parts, so you might be able to BOP a pedal from the mid 60s.

Brian,
Thanks for the tip. Now I just need to find either one, that helps narrow down the hunt.
Sure miss the days when these cars were plentiful in the yards . LOL

Hi Michael,
I figured the clutch pedal might have been used on another model, like Pontiac or Olds. Seems the Chevy's changed things up from the other three at the time.
Looks like I'm down to the following parts :
equalizer shaft
the ball stud that bolts to the frame bracket
the release rod assembly
the rod that goes from the pedal to the " Z " bar
the inner lever.

OK.
I'll get you a list of what I have from that.
:)

The ball stud that bolts to the frame bracket is repopped. I'll look to see where I bought mine from. I have my old one, but decided to put a new one in.

There is a correct set of pedals on Ebay:

The equalizer is in excellent condition has the ball stud, retainer clip and all with star washer and nut.
The rubber seal is a bit ratty at the hole, and the frame piece is in super shape.
I also have a release bearing. Looks slightly used, it was in a box of parts.
I need to crawl around my bench, but I think I have the long release arm that connects to the pedal to the outer lever. I think I was missing the clevis and the inner lever.
-
If anyone can come up with the correct pedal to Z rod.....please measure it. I believe this is the one that I modified for a 66 just by replacing one end. It would be nice to know for future reference.

I've got to take mine out anyway, so I'll do that tomorrow and report back on the correct length and where the slight bend occurs.

Michael,
That's the piece I thought would be the most difficult to find. Let me know what you need for the parts and shipping. I'll get payment on the way.

Let me box them up and send them out Monday.
How does $0.00 sound?
:glasses9:
I've received more here from you and others than I can tally.

Michael,
I am really appreciative of your generosity. We will talk.
More progress on the '64 ? I am glad you have it up and running. The wiring was a nice challenge for me. Thanks for the opportunity to do it for you.
Had hopes of making it down your way this winter, but it won't happen.
Again, many, many thanks,

I am waiting on the windshield to arrive in the next week or so. I'll trailer it down the have the exhaust installed, and drive it around the corner to get the windshield put in.
Then it will be the time to drive it around over a few weeks to break in the engine, tranny, rear end and bedding in brakes.
After that, I'll be hunting elephants, and ponies and such... (http://www.wootmonkey.com/upload/2017/03/24/20170324155511-4e3c4727.gif)
I plan on Bowling Green this fall, and Crusin' the Coast in Ocean Springs, if any opportunity to intersect with you at some point, I am open to trying to do that.
And I will get a "write up" on all of this and some pics and video in the next month. (http://www.wootmonkey.com/upload/2015/02/06/20150206150717-9aa93afc.gif)

Michael,
You are getting to the finish line. Great! I will have to see how this fall works out for me. Most of the summer is going to be put on hold for me.
Don't forget the pictures in that write up, looking forward to seeing the car pictures and the write up.

Ted, I agree. Every now and then, it seems to take a bit to load. Not sure why, other then it most likely is from the host server point.
Ever since I moved it to the cloud though, there has been less issues and it hasn't gone down since that move.
Are these parts you pictured something you are willing to sell ?
Loren

  Yes, for sale.

Ted, PM sent.

Ted, I would like to get some of the parts from you. I still need the clutch rod . and the lever piece that bolts to the Z bar. Also the clutch pedal would save reworking the one I found. That's all I can think of for now.
