Title: Exhaust Pipes
Post by: Mark Ascher on October 07, 2017, 04:47:48 PM
Is there any demand for head pipes and tailpipes made like originals? May have found someone who can make them.

I thought the ones that Garner Exhaust sells were correct?  If not, what is different?

Brian,

Gardner will not not sell the headpipes or tailpipes separately. You have to buy the whole system. They have the right headpipes for the 66 Chev,
but I didn't feel I needed to spend $1000 for pipes and mufflers for a driver. I love Gardner exhaust and would use them again in a heartbeat for
a show car, but just can't justify it for the Chev. Had to do some looking.

Gardner will sell individual pipes to those who have already bought a complete system from them. Bought a set of tail pipes for Loren. Seem to recall they were $300 or so however.

Magic Muffler in Iowa Falls IA had a program to mold the pipes for my GS They came out very nice for not much money. Talk to Mike  641-648-9487

Dan,

I would guess that applies to a system the same as what you had already purchased. Not a different vehicle.
I didn't know Gardner would do that.

Downpipes for those that prefer a higher performance header-back system might be useful.
There are lots of header-back systems available, but connecting it to GS exhaust manifolds requires the downpipes. I don't believe those are available anywhere.

Mark,

Are you looking to put together a group purchase?

Loren,

Hadn't thought about it. I'll ask him if something can be done if a group purchase can be put together.
Was really just seeing if there was another resource out there for the parts.

I had a two inch diameter dual exhaust system manufactured and installed on my Special in 2013 by a Midas shop in Shakopee Minnesota.  The shop has (if still there) a computer programmable bending machine with the ability to generate original factory systems.

104 Market St N, Shakopee, MN 55379
 (952) 496-2656

Might be worth a phone call.

Kevin,

I'll check them out. The blast guy I use is out near that.

Spoke with the exhaust maker tonight. If you are interested in have a stock system made for use with the manifolds, 2 head pipes, 2 tailpipes, post here and we'll try and get a group purchase started.

Hi Mark,

I'd be interested, depending on cost.  It would be a spare for future use on the red convertible.

Chuck & John,

I'll put both of you guys down for a set. Cost isn't firm yet, but pretty sure you will like it.
A lot. Thanks, now looking for 8 more....

i would be interested in set of head pipes.

I also would like to know if I could get a set of tail pipes made with the same 2 1/4" pipe.

I just bought a complete set of duals for the 300 thats in my car now.

It is all 2", so if 2 1/4" tail pipes are a no go, I would use the 2" ones I have.

David,

The original GS exhaust system used 2-1/4” header pipes and 2” tailpipes.

Yes, but I already have a new set of 2 inch tail pipes.
I was asking, if I had to buy a complete set of pipes, could I get the tail pipes in 2 1/4"

David,

You could probably get the the tailpipes in 2 1/4, I'll have to find out.
So 3 sets so far.
