Title: New Daily Driver in the family
Post by: cwmcobra on September 28, 2017, 07:22:29 PM
Not a 65 GS and not even a Buick.  Just took delivery of a 2018 Dodge Durango SRT.  Wow!!  That's all I can say.  What a ride!

Forgive me if my passion for 65's declines for awhile.  I'll love every minute of driving this beast!

Dear Chuck, Jim, Dan, and mid-60s Buick car people,  . . .

Just took delivery of a 2018 Dodge Durango SRT.  Wow!!  That's all I can say.  What a ride!

Forgive me if my passion for 65's declines for awhile.  I'll love every minute of driving this beast!

Well now, that does look rather assertive!  I do hope you keep it well fed, otherwise it might start eating cats, dogs, small children, smart cars, etc. . . . . .  :laughing7:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

More likely to start eating Mustangs, Camaros, etc.   :laughing7:

But don't forget it has unusually impressive trailering ability as well!

Chuck, I see what you were talking about when you said you were looking forward to getting your new ride. Looks good and the underhood shot says it all.

Nice Chuck !
Is there any tread left on the tires ?  Now all it needs is a Thrush mufflers sticker on the rear windows .

Thanks guys.  I'm trying to decide where I can take a road trip to today  :laughing7:

John, no need for Thrush stickers....The Mopar Performance exhaust on this car "speaks" for itself!

I like that truck. Real muscle, along with real utility. A true "Sports Utility".
Title: Oh yeah - how much can it tow? (Re: Assertive New Daily Driver in the family)

Dear Chuck, Glenn, John, Keith, and mid-60s Buick owners who's daily drivers have a "healthy" appetite!  :laughing7:

More likely to start eating Mustangs, Camaros, etc.   :laughing7:

Oh yeah!  Well, I don't think it will look right hauling a vintage travel trailer.  (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/travel-trailer-smiley.gif)

Still what is its towing capacity for my curiosity . . .  :icon_scratch:  There is plenty of modern trailers out there to tow.  So it could easily seek a new challenge once it has eaten its fill of Mustangs, Camaros, and perhaps even a Challenger or two.  You never know with a Mopar - perhaps it is a cannibal!   :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Actually, towing capacity contributed heavily to my purchase decision.  When I towed my 65 GS in my enclosed trailer, the weight was right about at the GVW towing limit of my 2011 Durango with the 5.7L Hemi at 7200 lbs.  Towing capacity for the SRT is 8700 lbs., a full 1500 lbs. more than the 2011.  So, like Thomas the Tank Engine, it's going to be a really useful SUV!  Yeah, I know I'm supposed to drive the GS, but on a long haul, sometimes the trailer is a better option.

Now about that cannibalization, you're probably right.  After all, who're more competitive than family members???   :argue:

A great weekend to all!
