Title: Part needed
Post by: Rollaround on December 07, 2016, 07:48:23 PM
I need piece of sheet metal but I'm not sure of the nomenclature.
I'm doing repairs to the lower rear quarters aft of the wheel wells.  I have repair panels but need the panel that goes down from the trunk pan deck and attaches to the inboard side of the lower rear quarter.
Has anyone found one of these? Has anyone tried a GTO or Chevelle panal?

Kevin,

I think it is called a trunk floor extension panel.

or 'Trunk floor drop-off', or just 'drop-offs'.
There are repos for GTO avail, dunno if they fit. Chevelles have a shorter trunk length than Buick, Olds Pontiac..... at least for 66-67.

Or make your own panels. I have one of the Harbor Freight bead rollers. It works pretty good for rolling beads into patch panels. At about $100, it'll pay for itself after doing one car.

Outside of making them or finding used ones (trunk floor extension),I have not seen anything that is correct for 64-5 skylark. The problem is that there is nothing straight about the lower quarter sections. This curved body line look is specific to skylarks and all the other A bodies are a straight line at the bottom where it rounds under the car.

I ordered a set for a 65 Chevelle. I though the 66 GTO looked like a closer fit but Dave at Tamraz told me guys have better luck with the Chevelle panel. I'm going to try to make them work; I'm sure they'll need some tweaking but it is something to start with.  Wish me luck!

I have to do something, what's there now looks like it was installed by a kindergarten class.
