Hi,
week 4 of my project went to put a Mini starter on and it will not fit unless I only use 1 bolt to mount it
it is clockable just either way will not fit with stock exhaust manifolds
has anyone else had this issue
or is anyone running a Mini and who's
thanks

Jim,
Which one did you buy?

Mark,
I got this one off Jamie out of WA
it looks like a nice piece just won't fit to save my life the solenoid bolt lines up with the mounting bolt either rotation
it is hard to believe I am the first to run a stock set of manifolds and a mini as he was saying he has sold them for the past 6 years
looking like I may buy a stock one or have one of the 3 core I have redone
getting close to letting it sit for another year and I really wanted to get this car moving under its own power guess a little too ambitious with only this week to go
if some one knows of a Mini that will work let me know
thanks all

Jim,
I don't know anything about Jamie's starters. I bought one from Tom Telesco. Toms' fit fine, although I had to grind a little from the frost plug boss behind the starter so the wiring wouldn't get scrunched. You don't want to go back to a stock starter.
PITA.

You can buy all the stuff to rebuild your stock starter from the parts store--brushes, bushings, and the solenoid. You can also get the bendix/gear on the end of it. I rebuilt mine in that fashion and it works great. Where it is a pain is installing it--you can't put it in with the manifold on the car--it has to be installed simultaneously with the manifold.
My guess is the mini starter you bought was made to be used with the manifolds that go on the Lesabre/Wildcat/Electra--they are alot more plentiful.

I've had others who have run into the same problem. Send it back & buy one of mine. I guarantee it will fit. I test EVERYONE on an engine before shipping.
And, if it ever becomes nec. it can be removed with the manifolds on the car. Haven't had one back yet in the nine years I've been selling them.
