They were working fine the other day. Now they just won't open. Is there a trick to get them open?
Both doors!

Without being present to inspect and kind of following the posts you've made, I suspect the body has started to sag causing the latch to hang up on the striker.
Try lifting up on the door as you try to open it. :dontknow:

Have not done any work to the floors yet. I was getting ready to weld the braces in. I can see the mechanism moving the latch, just can't tell what's behind the plate - no way to see in there. At least all my door panels are off. The car is on jack stands... not sure if that makes a difference??
That's the only thing I can think of, car doors have not been opened since I jacked it up.

Yes, being on jack stands makes a difference.

Even on hardtops to a slight degree.

Took the rear off the jack stands, still had to push the doors down really hard to get them open.
Probably would be best to put the car on the wheels and weld up the braces, before jacking it up?

change where you put your stands. Put your stands under your rear axle and under front control arms where the spring pockets are. It sounds like you are arching the body and frame.

Could be; I had the rear at the diff-axle and the front at the frame.
Anyone have a good picture of how to show the jack stand placement in the front, under the control arms?
