Contemplating buying back my old 65 GS thin pillar 3 speed coupe. giving a lot of thought to what it will need which includes paint, interior and chrome redone. just wondering what caliber of car I could get if I were to spend 15-20K upfront instead of 10k for a car and then another 10-12k getting it in shape, doesn't have to be a stick car but absolutely don't want a convertible or A/C power windows and locks. these days seems like the 65-66 cars are few and far between in any configuration.

You should be able to get a nice driver. There are a lot of cars out there when you really start looking. What I found was there were several trailer queen caliber cars, many projects, and few driver quality cars in the middle. Better off buying the best car your budget allows. I was given that advice and it was right. Around here fixing one up costs a fortune unless you have a shop and can do a lot of the work yourself. Good luck!

Walt,
That car has A/C which I absolutely don't want.. a ford 9 inch???

That looks like a nice car. Good price for a 4 speed car.

It is a pretty nice car. I seen it at a local Buick show a couple of years ago. It also had a hydraulic clutch, dual quads and headers. It's hard to see in the pics if it still does or not. I see there's some headers sitting in the background of one of the garage pics

It sounds like you are looking for a nice driver without the "luxury options. I've been toying with selling my 65 GS HT on and off for over a year. It may be what you are looking for. And we are in the same neighborhood as far the money you are looking to spend. It's matching numbers engine, 8.2 BOP rear, ST400 older frame on resto. It is set up to look like an late 60's "hot rod and it's pretty quick.
Engine picture is a few years old. It now has an aluminum radiator a engine bay clean up, and has ben converted to manual steering. (I still have all the P/S stuff and original Harrison radiator)

Always liked your car Jerry, with the Weld's on too!

That's a good looking Car Jerry. I like the interior color, I had a black 65 4 speed car years ago with the same interior.

Thanks, that color must have looked awesome with a black car.
