Not in a big hurry but thought I would see whats out there .
I,m looking for a 65 GS hood , would like something pretty nice . Right now the one I have is a base skylark hood with no hole in it for a hood ornament .
Not sure if thats the only difference or not .

John,
I have a hood from my 65 Skylark parts car. It's solid, has holes for the hood ornament and the Buick emblems. Only problem is a small tweak on the right side from an accident that should be fairly easy to fix. If you'd like pictures, just say the word.

John, if you're coming Saturday you can look at the GS parts car hood.
-
John,
I also recently heard about one in Iowa (if Chuck's doesn't work out).

Only difference between special and the Skylark/GS hood is the holes for the hood ornament. You can drill them in about 10 min. and the hood you have will instantly be a Skylark/GS hood.

Just for clarification, there is not a GS specific hood.
There was one hood made for '64 and '65. All Specials , Skylarks and Gran Sports used the same part. In '65 Buick punched two holes in it and installed the unobtainium hood ornament.
Just for clarification,

Loren , Brian , I kinda figured it was just a couple extra holes , but I would need some kind of template to know where they are suppose to be .
I suppose I could figure it out by just placing the lower part or base of the ornament on the hood .
YA never know I might it take it out for a old school cruise , With NO hood . These cars wood look pretty cool with that big chrome air cleaner . :rocker:
Rob , do you you know if that hood in iowa is pretty nice ? I could be interested if its nice .
Rob , also as it gets closer to the Extravaganza and we start to get an idea of a head count let me know if you would like me to bring something .
Jim , I,m planning on Sat. at your place .

John,
I came across the guy in Iowa because he was selling a partial dual quad set up on the Des Moines Craigslist. He had several Rivieras. I called him and asked him if he had any skylark GS parts and he mentioned a good condition hood for $300. Not much detail from there.
If you want to know where to drill the holes on your special hood you could always measure mine when you all are at my place next month. Might be good to start a thread to get a head count in the next few weeks.

Hey John...I am FINALLY about to begin parting out a 65 foedoe with an excellent rustfree hood, AND it has factory provisions for that unobtainium hood ornament too! If ya havent found a hood yet, take a look and lemme know if interested. This pix is from my file but I can get a few better pix...
I dont have any problems building crate for shipping. Been there. Did that, many times.
