What has someone used to get the best match? I am thinking, it is semi gloss black, but mine has been painted once, thanks Bill.
-
Bill,
For the 66? Unsure if there was a change, but the 65s with no air had a very dark, fine metallic gray finish.

Finish is the same for a '66 as what Mark just posted from his '65.

Satin or semi gloss. I had some bumper paint around that I used for the final coats. It was either charcoal or dark titanium metallic from SEM, darker is more correct.

Looks to be about the same color as the dash in a 65 Skylark with white interior. Dark gray metallic like Mark said. If you have trouble finding some APS Tower Paint has the formula and can make it in an aerosol spray with some flattener in it.

Thanks everyone for the input. This one has been repainted once and kinda looks dark gray. Was hoping someone had found a match with easy to find brand. Thanks Bill.

Bill,
Mine was done at a restoration shop that had the right formula. No information as to what the formula was.
It's hanging under the dash in a dark hole, close will be more than good enough (in my opinion).

Follow up to painting the heater box. Found paint and painted and it looks good, thanks all.
-
That does look good. Thanks for sharing.

Looks very good. Since I have plenty of charcoal dash paint, that's what I'll be using.
Good topic; thanks for posting!
