I think Comp Plus shifters for the 65-66 GS are still available new.

Cool!
My silver 66 came with a Hurst shifter.... The previous owner installed it. Hacked up the floor to install it.
I have to admit I only drove the car in my driveway before taking it apart for a frame-off resto. That was 2003. Still not done. Why do I do these things???

Those shifters are still available new....Summit has 'em for $226. Dunno if they are the same as the 'vintage' shifters? Maybe this link will work:
http://www.summitracing.com/search/Department/Drivetrain/Section/Shifters/Brand/Hurst-Shifters/Part-Type/Shifters-Manual-Transmission/Year/1965/Make/BUICK/Model/GRAN-SPORT/Transmission-Type/Borg-Warner-T-10/?Ns=Rank|Asc

Don't forget to get a install kit 9shift rods). Another $125.
There was a Car Craft article on installing a Hurst shifter into a 66 GS. I bet the article is online. The install kit is the same as the earlier full-size Chevs, I verified the rod numbers with the ones in my 66.

You are lucky you did not buy the hurst shifter.
I went back and looked at it . The shifter handle shown is for a bench seat arrangment. It is the same one I put in my GS conv. in 1971.
It works fine BUT the curve causes you to have a throw closer to the dash. It will NOT work with a stock buick consolette. The shape causes it to hit the
front of the console opening. The orig. # of my kit was 373 4734.
By accident 2 years ago a friend of mine done a total restro. on a 63 Impala 409. he had a hurst shifter that he had taken out. the handle is a straight handle.
I tried it in the GS, and it is perfect. it fits the stock GS consolette perfectally.
My orig. 67 hurst catalog lists 2 shifters for the 65 GS. 1. with a Muncie (?) and a 12" handle, and the 2. w & w/o a console and a "special" handle.
