Dear John, and mid-60s Buick audiophiles,

Can anyone recommend a good replacement front speaker for my 65 Skylark GS. Must be 10 or 8 ohm.

Could you elaborate a little on what you are looking for?  I would expect with a little asking around you could have someone who has a original Buick speaker in working condition.  Are you looking for a speaker with the same footprint that isn't used?  This might be hard to find because I don't think there has been a demand for speakers like that since the 1960s-70s.

I believe there are upgrades available, but you obviously need a audio source that can drive it.

Please do let us know what you are after.

Cheers, Edouard

John,

Got my speakers from this outfit.http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm (http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm)

As I remember they were 8 ohm and the front or rear were like $49 each. BIG selection, quality speakers and fast shipping.

Good luck,  Dan

Thought so. LOL

Not sure there is anybody that would provide that service any more in today's throw away world.

I don`t have the original speaker. It already had been replaced by a gm Camaro speaker from the late 80s.  Part # 16163615. This fit nice and was 10 ohm. My research shows this is now obsolete.

Mark, I had one done about 5 years ago, and it was about 60.00 with shipping. Think I sent it to Salt Lake City. If I remember the front speaker is a 6" round one.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the response. Picked up new 8 ohm 25 watt speaker at a surplus store today. Lots of numbers on the magnet and letters ONK.  Made in China of course. No name as it was not in a package. Got it for 10 bucks. Only one they had. Tested it on an extra radio here and sound is good. I will install it in the spring.
