I discovered a crack in the case of mine and have it Temporary fixed with fuel tank sealer ( and it is holding)
Just a small hairline crack seeping oil .Just bought this for a back up does it look correct.I do know the date codes will be off .I may just clean it up and eventually repair mine since it is a number match car for the most part. INPUT???

The casting numbers are in a different location than my late '65 case. I don't know if that means anything.
I sortof recal there being different shaft diameters, but don't recall the years.
There was a rebuilt trans on eBay recently, sold by Kajun Jon. Here's his webpage:

Price was reasonable.
Here's a pic of your eBay case (left) next to my '65 trans (right)

The left is C2 corvette case.

Do the c2 corvette case have a GS on the tailshaft?what years corvette was this case in Steve?I have an ear cracked on mine and need a case or need to repair mine
-
The tail housing from the one you bought will not work--does not have the proper shifter mounting position for a GS, and the rear trans mount pad on the bottom is about 1/2" different in location, so the mount bolts won't line up with the holes in the crossmember.
You can use the main case though (cast iron part). Only difference is the location of the casting numbers as was already pointed out. The casting numbers moved to the lower location in 64, so the one you bought is pre-64.
Your original GS aluminum tail housing can easily be welded. Just clean it really well and bead blast it before you take it to be welded.

the tail housing is stamped GS on it

That is the correct tail housing. Someone must have put a GS tail housing on a 63 or older main case. The main case will fit and function perfectly--just has the casting number in a different location than the 64 and newer main cases did.
