I had a guy approach me today at a car show and ask if I would be interested in purchasing a 67 GS setup. He has an engine, on a stand that he pulled from a totaled GS in 1969. He says the engine had approx. 10,000 miles on it when it was pulled. It's a non-bored 400ci engine. It has the original fan and fan clutch, intake and heads. It has the original 4-speed carb, bellhousing, clutch disc and pressure plate.
He also has the Star Wars air cleaner set up. He pulled the heads off in order to see the cylinder bores and verify that they had not been tampered with. Also has the exhaust manifolds.
My question is, is it worth the $1000.00 dollars that he's asking for it? I told him I would call him next week in order to look at it. A 67 GS 400 that's been sitting on a stand for 45 years must be worth a grand huh?

If the complete Star Wars air cleaner is included, then yes it's a decent price. The air cleaner alone is worth about half that.

I'm going to look at it this week but I'm of the mind to pass on it. I don't have the room to store an engine for any length of time, especially one that I will probably never use myself. I will try to post pics of it when I take a look.

The owner started radiation therapy last week so I'm supposed to look at it sometime this week. After speaking to the Mrs. about it, she told me to pick it up.
