Title: Everybody post some pictures!
Post by: wildcat65 on May 04, 2009, 03:21:19 PM
Very soon I will post some pictures of some progress!
How about everybody just go out to the garage with the camera and
show some 65 skin!   I'm going to roll my car into the "work area" and
then get crankin' on a engine install.

Here's the latest of my 66 GS project. I didn't get it completed for Yardley's Buick picnic on May 2nd (it rained anyway), but I could have it together in a week if I really tried!

The front end sheetmetal will get a good cleaning, then I'll decide if it will get stripped and repainted. I am SOOO glad the winter is finally over.....now if it would just stop raining!

In the background is my 66 Special and my John Deere 425. ;D

I don't know about that cover dude. There's alot of people that have a real problem with that.

Really ? What's the problem ? It's not a real flag. Its just an american car with a car cover. Absolutely no insult intended.

Actually I think it's cool that he's honoring his American car built with American metal and American hands with an American flag.

Come on.. in all seriousness, It's not a real flag, it's a car cover.  People wear shirts and everything else with the flag on them and as long as it's in good taste, it shows pride in being an American which I'm sure that's exactly what our friend is doing is taking pride and showing others in his country that his baby is an all American girl.

Is it more of an insult to live in America and drive a car made in another country with all of the US autoworkers out of a job right now?

I found no disrespect at all personally and I welcome anyone honoring American pride no matter where they are from.

Hi Guys, It is my ?65 sitting under that cover and I can assure you that the reason why I use this cover is that I am very proud of my Buicks and the fact that they are built in the USA, they are what I call real cars. If I could choose another place to live it would be over there. I have one for my ?68 GS too and I have the most respect for your flag. Jan

No douby they look cool, i'm just saying alot of veterans dislike that use of the flag.

I liked them myself when they first hit the scene.

I just spent 5 minutes trying to figure out how to post a picture--can someone explain to me how to do it on this site?  It isn't obvious like on other sites.

Brian,

Right below the "Message" box where you're typing, there is "Additional Options". Click on the arrow. The rest will be easy...

Here is the car I parted over the winter.  Loren has the chasis and drivetrain now.

I need to update my restoration thread. It's way out of date, going back to October of '08 I think. This week will be impossible to do so. I'm also buying Adobe CS3. When Melissa lost her job in December, Photoshop went bye bye too, so I haven't had a way at home to work with images at all.

Brian, make sure you get those cars in the registry.

Loren has the firewall and VIN tag off of it, so you will have to get him to register that one.  None of the other cars I have parted over the years have been GS's---they were all skylarks and specials.

Guess I should look at the registry. Would someone register a GS that has become a parts car? ???

There are several reasons for listing the parted out cars in the registry.

-  Tracking of any cars previously in the registry that no longer exist.

-  If requested, the ability to locate a previously owned vehicle.  It would nice to let them know that the car does or does not exist anymore.  This would be performed only with the current owners permission of course.

Listing all cars will help us validate the different types and numbers of options that came out of the factory.  The more data we have on any 65 GS produced will provide us with information to base these estimates upon.

My advice is that if you have enough parts from a GS that could possibly serve as the basis for a re-body (title, engine, ID tags etc) I would not list this car as parted out.  You are not creating a car but rather saving a legit car from the grave yard.  I'd instead list it as a parts car or as in poor condition so it remains in "living status".

It is my personal belief that what a person decides to do with their cars is at their discretion and it's up to the individual to take responsibility to disclose any such information onto anyone they pass their stuff onto.

I have a car listed as parted out in the registry.  This car had a missing blown engine, I received no title since it was a "roller" and basically I bought it for the spotless doors, fenders and frame.  I kept the tags off the car for prosperity knowing that it will be lost forever due to the lack of enough original parts to ever bring it back to life and I share this information openly as a service to others and it's another one of 1263 now accounted for.   ;D

I hope this helps...

Here's the latest. Rstoration project is in a holding pattern.  Now that it's summer, the red convertible shares garage space with the silver convertible.  Help, I need more elbow room.

Top frame is on and aligned with the side glass. Interior is the next mini project.

Ok , that makes sense. I think that makes like 6 or 7 that qualify one way or another.
Will have to start looking for all those tags and titles.lol
