Is anyone using the TA headers in a stick car?
I was wondering about fitment issues on the driver's side header/starter/steering shaft/clutch linkage area.

My "Mini-Starter" will make the job easier for sure. Especially if for some reason the starter needs to be removed.

I used them on my 66 gs. They fit alright. My cars a auto though. Steering shaft has plenty of room. Definitely go with tom's mini starter. It's tight there and around the oil filter area. Here is a pic of the driver side area. I can get a closer pic of both sides later if you need.

What did you use to coat the headers?

I had them coated at a local place called performance coatings in auburn Washington. It's ceramic coating. That coating has been on there for close to ten years. And they still look brand new.

I have them on 2 '66 Gran Sports but both are automatics also. I plan to add them to my 4 speed car too and have them coated locally. So I am interested in hearing about the 4 speed fitment too.

I have the TA headers on my 65,I had to put a dimple in the tube of the last header tube by the fire wall for the Z bar bolt. I also use a smaller oil filter. Harle

There was one report of TA headers having so little ground clearance they were nearly unusable.
I have a set of Kustom headers on my blue '66. I think the GSCA and TA repos are copies of those.
To install, you have to unbolt the engine mounts and raise the engine. Drivers side is more difficult, you have to unbolt the starter to make room to fit the header up there. The original starter is more easily installed if you remove the solenoid until you get the starter body in place, then put the solenoid on afterwards.
To get the oil filter in & out, I have to remove the trans converter cover and loosen the trans cooler lines....That's with my Kustom headers. Do you guys with the TA's need to do this too?

With my headers I ended up running a remote oil filter set up. And I mounted the oil filter up on the front right frame horn. I hid it as best I could.

I'm sorry I don't mean to highjack the thread but what is your cold air cleaner off of?

It's a fiberglass surround that goes around a 14x3 air cleaner. It's called a ram air box made by air inlet systems.
