Title: Great time at my first BCA meet
Post by: Jonesy on July 07, 2012, 04:41:22 PM
Wanted to give a shout out to Brian Stone for his hospitality while at the BCA event in Charlotte. He had a cookout at his place, which was beautiful, and proudly displayed his collection of cars/truck. He even bought and cooked the food for us, thank you Brian. My dad and I felt fortunate to meet everyone that we did, James Scarboro and his wife along with his family owned 65 GS, Jim Moses, and his better half, and his 65 Skylark and Steve from the neighborhood. I learned an awful lot from all of these guys in a very short period of time. I also learned that Jim and his wife, sorry, I'm terrible with names the older I become, live about 20 minutes from my mother in Michigan so I'll have another friend to cruise the bricks with next August. While at the BBQ on Friday night, my dad looked at me and said,"this sure isn't what I expected." My reply was, "me either, it's better than I expected." And he concurred. One of the highlights, besides seeing all of the rides and spending time with my father, was the ride I got in Brians' 64 Skylark 4-speed. I hope to see all of you again. Thanks for a wonderful time.

You have discovered for yourself that people are what really make a difference on this site.

I've been around this stuff for over 40 yrs and didn't know there were so many great 65ers in my own neighborhood.

Did you happen to get some pictures you could share.

I was all signed up and wound up on the operating table with Kidney Stones on BCA Wednesday.

Congratulations BRIAN on your BCA Senior.

Mike,

It was great to meet you and your dad, will have to meet up next time you are up in MI for the Back to the Bricks show or anytime you find yourself in my neck of the woods.  Me and my wife (Dawn) had a good time talking with you and your dad, along with James and his wife and Brian is always good to kill some time with and talk Buick's and anything automotive.

I sent Brian all my pictures as my computer is toast so I am betting he should be posting a few

Suprising thing was everyone there either had or was getting a manual trans GS.

Regards,

Jim,

Please ask Dawn to accept my aplogies, I'm just not as
sharp as I once was, if ever I was sharp. My family and I
will more than likely be up for B2B in August next year.
This is the second year in a row that I've missed it, not
good business my friend. I was able to locate the second
owner of the 65 and learn that he bought it to flip after
owning it for a few short months. I was also able to
locate the third owner but have yet to hear from him.
I'll be posting some history and engine/POP info soon.
Look forward to seeing you both in the future. You are
always welcome down here anytime you want to escape
the dull, dreary Michigan winter or feel like you need to
sweat just a little  it more. Milton, I hope you were able
pass the stones, or have them pulvarized and everything
went well. Sorry you weren't able to make it and you are
right, there are some great people on this board. Hope
to meet all of you at some time or another.
