Title: Spring Extravaganza Car Show MN State Fair Grounds Sunday May 6, 2012
Post by: mdkd on April 10, 2012, 11:28:21 AM
Everyone Passing through Minnesota this spring

The Spring Extravaganza Car Show and Swap Meet is Sunday May 6, 2012 at the MN State Fairgrounds.

This is the 25th Anniversary of the largest single day car show in the metro area and is put on by the Gopher State Buick Club.

In 2010 we had 950 Show Cars, over 100 Car Corral and a full Swap Meet area with golf cart delivery for large parts.

The weather just about killed us last year but we are back at it again this year.

There is Dash Plaques for the first 500 Show Cars and 1st 2nd 3rd place for all 55 classes assuming there are at leaset 3 cars in the class.

This is participant judging and a class for most anyone that would like to come with a 1990 or older Show Car.

Spectator entry is $5 and children under 12 are free with adult.

Show Car pre-entry is $10 including driver and 1 passanger before April 15 and $15 if after.

Car Corral and Swap pre-entry is $20 for one 25' X 15' Area and $25 day of the show.

Early setup is on Saturday May 5th which means you can bring in your Show Car or set up your Swap between 10am and 2pm and avoid the Sunday Rush.

I'm sure I haven't covered something so the Hot Line number is 651-770-8096 Web is www.gopherstatebuick.org (http://www.gopherstatebuick.org) including pre-entry documentation.

As always I'm open to questions / comments / criticism / compliments etc

Most of all I'm looking to see ya there for a great time.

Just so happens that I'll be in the twin cities that weekend. Going to try to catch it before heading back to Nebraska.

Loran

Glad to hear you might have a chance to stop in. It would be great to see you.

I'm also hoping Rob and or Jay might have a chance to stop in with their cars.

I seen their cars in Ames but didn't have a chance to meet them.

I'm hoping to have my red and white 65GS convert in the show but it is just a driver compared to what you guy's have.

Until we meet again.

I definitely plan to be there with my car this year assuming the weather is better than last year.
Cold does not nearly describe it.

Rob

We have only had weather like last year twice in 25 years so the odds are in our favor.

Glad to hear the show is on your schedule.

Really looking forward to meeting the rest of you.

Mark has been up to my place of course and the rest of you are sure welcome.

It's only a 70% chance of rain tomorrow and sunny on Monday.

You know what they say in Minnesota. "If you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes"

If anyone needs my cell phone number just PM me.

Milton,

Just took this screen shot of the National Weather Service radar.

I might head over to my swap space when the deluge stops.... at least it's not 30 degrees with a 40 mph northerly breeze.

As you point out the weather looks to be a real challenge tomorrow.

By this time tomorrow I guess we will know the answer.

All the years planning, money and effort makes it tough when mother nature doesn't cooperate.

Fortunately the Gopher State Buick Club is a great group of people.

Milton,

I'll be up early anyway to scope out the latest in the situation. There's been plenty of shows with great weather in the past.
I don't think I've missed this show more than a handful of times since it started. We all appreciate the effort!

I'll be there.    It's only a question of whether my car will be with me.  Some reports say the weather will clear up late morning.  IF that's the case I will be heading down with my car along with my buddy who has a 68 gs with a restoration that was finished yesterday by the same body man who did my car.

Like we say in Minnesota "If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes"

Last night they had predicted 80+ %  storms all day today.

True it stormed in the early AM but held its water the rest of the day.

Attendance was somewhat down but we had a great time anyway.

Met new Friends and visited with old.

I agree, Rob's 65 is as good as everyone says it is.

Thanks to everyone who joined us today.
