Title: headers
Post by: rwg65 on April 04, 2012, 08:04:29 PM
Anyone running ta performance headers on their 65 gran sports? Wondering how the ground clearance is and how you may like them.

Thanks Bob

There is at least one report (on V8Buick) of TA headers that had horrible ground clearance.
I have a set of old Kustom headers on my blue '66 and they're kinda low too.
GSCA had several runs of headers made as well......

I'd guess they are all lower than the stock cast manifolds....

I run TA headers on mine and ground clearence was a problem because they point down. When I rebuilt the engine this winter I had a friend of mine, that work with metal, bend them upwards. He made a setup were he could heat them slowly so no damage was done. I think he bend them around 2" and now they are great, sits perfect in the tunnels on the transmission cross member and no problems driving anymore. Let me know if you want a photo of how they are now.

Thanks for pics. Still look close. Think I'll stay with exhaust manifolds.
Thanks bob
