Hey guys, last night I bought a very rare, documented (original bill of sale, contract, protect plate) 1965 Skylark GS convert. Take a look!
-
Very nice! Like the color combo. And welcome!

Very nice ride.
Tell us about it.
It looks like Automatic, Wheels, Power Seat, Power Top, Remote Control Drivers Mirror.
You are very lucky to get so much documentation.
What is under the dash over the console?
What color blue is it?
Oh, by the way, welcome to the group.

Here you go....

It also has a power drivers seat. BTW, that thing under the dash is an old FM tuner. 4 owners (not counting me). First owner exported it to Sweden for a while and brought it back. Sold it to a man south of Erie, PA. Then a Mr. Phelps bought it (friends). Then he gave it to his son who I bought it from up in Erie.

Nice looking ride. Welcome to the group.

bahmainhtown, where are you and the car located? I especially like the bill of sale where they traded in a 61 Corvair 4dr. on the GS. What an upgrade!
-
I live up in Mercer, PA about an hour due north of Pittsburgh.
-
Very nice car. How many miles on your new baby??
-
125,000.

bamainhtown,
Welcome, glad to have you aboard. Since I'm currently "the keeper" of the '65 GS Registry Archives, I tried to find out if your GS was ever previously registered. There are three other GSs in the Archival Registry from Sweden. However, they were all hardtops. Unfortunately, the Archival records did not include the VIN and contain mostly outdated owner info. I did find three entries with photos of Astro Blue convertibles with white interiors, one dating back to 1979. If you know the names of all the previous owners, that might be the only way to make a connection to your GS. To maintain confidentiality of all Registry members, and if you'd like, send me a private message and I'll see if I can find a match. BTW, I do hope that you'd include your GS convertible in the Registry. Thanks.
I find it interesting that on your car's invoice, they called the softray tinted glass "Easy Eye Glass". You're lucky to have all the paperwork with your GS and its complete history. Only four owners in the last 47 years. And to bring it back to the States again says a lot about the owner's passion for your convertible. It is a great color combo indeed, and it looks very well cared for over the years. It would appear that your ralley wheels are original as they have the gray inserts. You might want to consider keeping them as is. It's impossible to exactly match that color of gray. I've tried every available gray paint on the market and nothing comes close. That's why I decided that it's best to keep mine as is for posterity.
Again, glad to have you aboard.

Here's the latest from the PM that bamainhtown sent to me. His Astro Blue convertible has not been previously registered in the Archives. However, oddly enough, one of the GS convertibles registered from Sweden in 1978 was owned by a man with the same last name. But his first name differs, Henry verses Harry. That convertible is Flame Red with red interior and a white top. The options also differs from bamainhtown's convertible. Definitely two different '65 GS convertibles. Could there be a name typo and this guy had two '65 GS convertibles? Who wouldn't want two GS convertibles? Or maybe this is a relative? The contact info that I have is obsolete. We may never know.
Bamainhtown, thank you for registering your '65 GS.
