Title: fan gaurd

I have lost my fan gaurd I guess youd call it . The small piece that bolts to the radiator hold down that prevents you from sticking your hand in the fan. I had a chevy in it for a while and used a nova shroud and removed the hand gaurd and lost it. any one know where I can get one? thanks

Hi Jared,

I believe that you are referring to the sheet metal guards that bolt top of the radiator. If this is a non AC car, then there would be two pieces. One bolts on top of the crossflow radiator and the other piece extends out over the fan. If your GS has AC, then a fan shroud would bolt on in in place of the extension. All these parts are specific to the '65 and '66 Skylark GSs. Therefore they may be difficult to locate. Hopefully you will be able to locate one from a salvage car. Good luck.

It is in fact the piece that extends out over the fan .

John, you piqued my interest.....now I have to look it up!!

There are some small-block cars that also use the top cover that fits the wide tank radiators.....

Group 1.270
panel, radiator upper mounting
pn 1373204, Fits:
- 1965-66 Skylark GS
- '66 Special/Skylark with HD rad
- '66 Special/Skylark V8 wagons with AC or AC modification
- '66 Special/Skylark with 340 and AC or AC modification

Apparently '67 GS uses a different top plate.

I realize Jared just needs the finger guard...... I looked that up too:

Guard, radiator fan
pn 1373242
Fits: '65-66 Skylark GS w/o AC

..... that surprises me. I thought small-block cars had that finger guard as well?

I have both a V-6 and a 300 inch V-8 in 1965 Skylarks, no finger guard on either, and they both have cross flow radiators. Finger guards were only on 65 and 66 Skylark GS without A/C.

Well, as much as we spend to bring these cars back to life, getting something for free is a good thing.  It was just sitting in my attic, so why not.
