Title: Back to the Bricks 2013, Flint, Michigan
Post by: Jonesy on August 26, 2013, 06:58:29 PM
My family and I were able to make the annual pilgramage, to the birthplace of Buick, once again for the Bricks. Got to spend part of the day with Jim Moses, and his buddy Rob, and spoke with a number of Buick owners. No 65 GS's on hand but there were some 65 Specials and Skylarks. I posted a picture of a rare four speed Wildcat convertible but I don't remember the year, maybe Jim can help.

Sloan museum. A guy fell asleep at the wheel and ran his car into the museums front wall with a bunch of corvettes on display inside. No damage to the cars but it sure made a mess. I don't know if you can see the damage to the bottom lower portion of the wall.

Jim Moses, Rob and Mike Jones on the Bricks. Jim in front of his cars. The 4-door he got from Brian Stone years ago and used it as a daily driver for quite some time. It was in fantastic condition, but then all of Brians' stuff is.

This is a very rare Wildcat convertible 4-speed that is something like one of 6 or one of 9. This is where Flint has been headed since the auto industry collapsed. The Buick factory where my dad did over 41 years is nothing but a vacant lot. Actually, someone told me that it's THE largest vacant concrete lot in all of Genesee County.

Mike,

It was good to see you again and wish your dad would have been there, here is a few pictures of a all original 65 GS that was there Friday night:

All

Is this an annual event?

It looks like a good time.

Could you give us a heads up next year?

Like the pictures.

Milton,

Yes, this is held each year on the 3rd Saturday in August. There are a few days worth of rolling cruises leading up to the day of the car show. There are also numerous local car shows in the surrounding cities for weeks preceeding the show. It also happens to be held on the same day as The Woodward Dream Cruise which is that 3rd Saturday also.
