Title: 300 V8 engine rebuild kit?
Post by: Polishmeatballpizza on March 12, 2017, 01:03:44 AM
Does anyone have info on a rebuild kit for a 300CI V8? I don't think my motor is the aluminum block.
As soon as I get this torn down and hot-tanked, I will need to get a rebuild kit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear George and mid-60s Buick engine rebuilders,

There are rebuild kits available for this engine, but I don't know if the quality of the parts can be trusted.  You would be better off buying the parts from a Buick specialist like TA-Performance:

http://www.taperformance.com/ (http://www.taperformance.com/)

This is the sort of question that this topic on the V-8 Buick forum might be better for you:

http://www.v8buick.com/forumdisplay.php?8-Small-Block-Tech (http://www.v8buick.com/forumdisplay.php?8-Small-Block-Tech)

This forum is more focused on the nailhead while that V-8 Buick forum has some real fanatics of the Buick 300.

Cheers, Edouard

George, Look in the small block forum over there.

Dear George, Good Dr., and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Ok. THANKS for the info. I will have to check them out.  I think I registered there,  and was directed here. ?

You might have been given a "nudge" to come over here.  V-8 Buick used to be a really great resource, but I can see that it is choking on its own success.  There is simply too much activity for anyone to really keep up with it, and as a result, the quality of the feedback you get is declining.

There is still another Buick forum that is more laid-back - Team Buick:

https://www.teambuick.com/ (https://www.teambuick.com/)

It has a great reference section and the number of postings is small enough that you can keep up with it.  I started out on that forum and wish I could keep up with it, but I'm just overwhelmed these days.

Cheers, Edouard
