Underside of car painted, with KBS and topcoat in satin. Firewall painted with Eastwood under the hood black. Upper dash, painted with correct dark blue single stage, with flat clear over it. Dash and door uppers painted with correct blue single stage and semi gloss clear over them. This was the best way to go for the $, the flat and semi gloss are SEM at about $15.00 a can, one flat and two semi gloss. The roof is painted white. Next the rest of the car. Thanks Bill.

Great progress Bill! It's going to be a beauty!
-
It is Blue. Here are a few pictures, not very good, my phone is not very good with pictures, or is it me. Know the work begins, wet sanding and buffing and the assembly. Thanks Bill.
-
Looks great! That's the same color as my project car. You're making nice progress!
-

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, Loren, come on up we could use the help and Rob only charges $5.00 more an hour for extra help. Thanks Bill.
-
WOWEEE.. SAHH WEEEEET! Very nice! Did you paint the car in this same garage??? :dontknow:
-
Yes, a lot of cleaning and plastic. I got to keep in mind this started off as a paint job and turned into a driver quality frame off. Thanks Bill.
-
Update, the body shell is wet sanded and buffed, know on to the parts, looks like we will try to marry the body to the running gear on Monday, if it dries up so I can get the trailer out of my building, or gets cold an night and do it early AM, thanks Bill.
-
WOW!!
That blue is absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to see what it looks like together and sitting in the sun!
-
Bill,
I finished parting out a 66 Special Deluxe 2dr. HT back in 1988 that was the same color scheme as your car--blue with white painted roof. Yours is the only other one I have seen with that color combo since! I have a photo of it somewhere at home. Yours looks awesome with that color! What color is the interior? The one I had also had blue interior.
-
Is that a off white on the roof ? That sets it off nice. Gunna be a head turner.
-
Thanks for the nice comments. interior is a bucket seat blue interior.
-
Nice job!!! Looks really good. Love the color combo. My dads 66 Gs post car he had in the 80's was that color blue with a black painted top originally. Then he painted it all black later on.

That looks great! You are inspiring me to get going on my convertible that is the same color with a black top. Nice job! Looks like it's going to be ready for the 50th anniversary of the 66 model year!
-
Bill, a driver? It looks much nicer than that! You have really moved on this one! The painted roof cars with contrasting colors have a very unique look to them! Much better than the Tupperware cars of today!Don't you think? Although the New Buick Avista concept car is something to see!

Day one of assembly, body on the frame, all bolts fit very well. Deck lid on and fits good, needs final adjustment with the extension on. Doors prepped for install.
-
Looks great Bill. Keep the updates coming!

Looking good Bill .
like that color combo .

LOOOOKING Good Bill!! :blob7:

Day 2 of assembly, went better that I thought it would. Both doors on pass fit good drivers, needs a little more adjusting and the door striker need a thinner washer and I did not have on over here. Both fenders prepped and the aprons put on the inner fenders, works much better with 2 people, and used a welding c clamp with a flat end, worked good. Pass fender installed with the inner attached, this is the most difficult fender to install because of the heater, it helps to swing the saddle out on that side and get the back of the fender kinda in place and then slide the saddle back. This fender was not on the car, it was a NOS one, even with this , I wish we had pre fit it, needed more shims and some adjusting and it will be OK but far from perfect. Wed we will attempt to finish adjusting the deck lid with the extensions on and re adjust the drivers door and finish the pass fender and tackle the drivers fender, and install the hood and do the final alignment, but that may run into Thru. Thanks Bill.

What paint did you use on your frame? It doesn't have as much shine as mine. Mine was supposed to be like T8 but it is brighter than that. Your looks better.
Good progress by the way. Looks gooood

Frame was powder coated at a local shop, it is satin black.
The 66 is done. Finished it Wed PM. Will bring it home Thur or Friday, depending on the weather, they are talking a slight snow this evening, so we will see.
-
Wow that looks nice! Will it be ready for the May 1 show?
-
Dear Bill, Jim, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,
The 66 is done. Finished it Wed PM. Will bring it home Thur or Friday, depending on the weather, they are talking a slight snow this evening, so we will see.
It brings back memories of my wagon finally getting past the painting hurdle and the hope of finally being put back together once more.
Great job! Now that the painting is done, things should move more quickly! Congrats!
Cheers, Edouard :occasion14:

Thanks for the nice comments, no will not be ready for May show. The assembly will slow down, have some other projects to attend to. Some car related some not so much fun. Hope to get it on the road by this fall. Thanks Bill.
-
Has to be an exciting time. The car looks great!

Bill,
Looking fabulous! Maybe I can stop in and see it on our way north to Minnesota Memorial weekend.
John
-
John, that could work, I a planning on going to MM that weekend but will not leave until Sat AM and will be back Sunday evening.
-
Well the car is home. Still need to do some minor adjustment to the door and front fenders, to get them kinda right. We started this body project about Nov 18, and Rob worked on it until know except for about a week, I helped do some stripping and grunt work. Thanks Bill.
-
Two more pictures, thanks Bill.
-
Looks really nice Bill. Congrats! :hello2:
