I've got just 1 gnarly job left on my restofication...the tilt column. Sand got into the bearings and I have to tackle this thing...
any one have experience on this? Most "pros" seem like they concentrate on 1969+ years.

This thread is over 9 months old and we never did find out what happened to Ted's tilt steering column.
So Ted, did you fix this or not? (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/wink_smile_triangle.gif). . . . Da' suspense is killing me!! . . . . . (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/nervous_smiley.gif)
Okay, okay, so I'm overstating my case, but I am a bit curious! :read2:

Any other leads on who can rebuild a tilt column for me? Brian?

I'm still looking for a lead on someone to rebuild my tilt column, any help appreciated! Thanks!

Chuck Schuster out of Jackson WI specializes in gm tilt columns and may be able to help you 262-677-0477 I haven't talked to him in awhile though.

I fixed my own! I had to create a tool to pull the springs into place, otherwise straight forward disassembly, clean, paint, lube, repeat backwards.
