Title: Ground Up - SS396.com
Post by: cwmcobra on April 14, 2015, 11:04:04 AM
I 've seen several references to parts available from Ground Up in some recent posts.  Just wanted to share my experience with them.

Last summer, I did an extensive conversion of my brother-in-law's 1964 El Camino, including replacing the Turbo Hydramatic 400 with a Saginaw 4-speed.  He had bought a conversion kit from them a year or so before, but was delayed in getting around to working on it.  To make a long story short, at every step where I had to work with the parts from Ground Up, I encountered defective parts, wrong parts shipped, and a less than considerate attitude from the Ground Up people.  They shipped the wrong pedals and didn't want to take them back.  The Z-bar was incorrectly heat treated and didn't fit and I was told to file it down until it did.  Then I talked to another person who said he recalled they had a heat treat problem with those.  They did finally replace everything, but it was a struggle at every step and I paid a lot in return shipping.  And perhaps most of all, I was turned off by their uncooperative attitudes.

Bottom line, I'll not do business with them, period.  YMMV, but that's been my experience.  I hope those of you that are dealing with them have better luck!

Cheers!

Chuck

Chuck  ,   Don't know about everyone else on here but I appreciate the heads up about that company .
I would much rather repair a used part then buy junk .
Thanks for the Heads up .
That's what feedback is for in my world .
