Title: Installing new brake and fuel lines ?
Post by: 35chevcoupe on March 09, 2017, 11:18:02 PM
Just wondering how much tweaking and RE-bending everyone has to do when installing new steel brake / fuel lines ?
Is it normal to have to rework them some ?

Yes for the brake lines, mostly around the engine cradle.  I don't recall doing much with the fuel lines or the front to rear brake lines.  I got my lines unbent for shipping, so assuming yours were shipped, you probably will have to do more tweaking of those front to rear lines just to get them straight.

Inline Tube or Right Stuff?

Have fun!

Chuck ,
They are right stuff , wanted to give them a try . Took me awhile to get the main front to rear lines to work . I think next time i,ll have them shipped un bent or pick them up in person somewhere .

Yeah, I was able to get mine unbent and delivered to my daughter's house near Detroit.  So I got to kill two birds with one stone on a visit there.  That definitely helps with the straightness and fit.

I fit mine up with body on frame with a few curses but not too bad.  One trick I used to get the fuel line through the frame- I stuck a coat hanger
into the frame where line was to come out, mated it up with the line in the frame and it acted as a guide to get it to the right spot.

My right front brake line looks like someone bent it by hand , it has no real shape to it .
I used to bend up my own and I think thats what ill do here .

Does anyone have a photo or is there a diagram of how the right front brake line is attached to the frame ?   My car didn,t have any clips or fasteners on the front line , it was just zip tied on .
The same with the main front to rear brake line , is there suppose to be any clips or fasteners from the trans cross member forward holding the line to the frame ?
I was trying to look at some of the photos on here but could,t really see anything .
  :dontknow:
